Could have been tasty, if not for the quality of the chicken
We ordered takeaway (butter chicken with rice and naan, 200 SCR). The packaging looked nice and branded, everything was neat. For this price, the portion could have been a bit larger, but that’s not the main issue.
The real problem was the chicken. Some pieces were fine, but several were clearly spoiled — unpleasant smell and taste, almost fermented. What made it worse, a few pieces looked like they had been reused from other dishes — there were even skewer marks on them, as if they came from leftover kebabs. It gave the impression that they were serving unsold or recycled portions.
This is very disappointing, because the restaurant is new, and the owners clearly invested in the place and the branding. Perhaps they are not even aware of what is happening in the kitchen. Read moreAfter a few days of eating rather bland food, I found myself craving the comfort of home-cooked Indian flavors before my flight. That’s when I stumbled upon Copper Plate in St. Louis, Seychelles and what a find it was!
The moment I walked in, I was welcomed by their warm and friendly staff. The ambience is tastefully done, simple yet elegant, setting the right tone for the food that followed. The menu is crisp and to the point, much like their dosas fresh, light, and absolutely delicious.
I tried the Prawns Sukka, and it was nothing short of mind-boggling bursting with flavor and perfectly spiced. The dosas with chutney reminded me of authentic South Indian kitchens, and the biryani truly is to die for.
If you’re in Seychelles and missing that homely Indian touch in your meals, Copper Plate is where your search should end. Highly...
Read moreThis review has been a long time coming. I first dined at The Copper Plate during its early days, and right from the start, I was taken by the cozy, welcoming atmosphere. Raja, the owner, shared the story behind the restaurant and it’s a good one. While it offers well-loved North Indian classics like the famous butter chicken, the real charm lies in its focus on the distinctive aromas and flavors of South India: something refreshingly new for Seychelles. Ordering was quick and seamless. We tried a selection of their best-selling dosas and traditional meals, and every dish impressed us. The portions were generous perfect for sharing and we left completely satisfied. I would recommend The Copper Plate without hesitation. Just make sure to book ahead: it gets busy, and for all the...
