This Indian-Muslim food place has been around for quite some time. It used to be a non-air-conditioned establishment, but in recent years, they made the transition to air-conditioned comfort. The transformation seems to have brought them quite a business, and it's easy to see why.
Located in an area with several Indian-Muslim food options, this place stands out as one of the best. Whenever I dine at an Indian-Muslim stall, my go-to order is Maggi Goreng, and this place does it justice. I prefer it without vegetables, and I always pair it with Teh Cino Iced (Iced Milk Tea) and a plate of fish gravy. The portion size is generous, and the flavors are delightful.
Dinner time can get crowded, but if you're dining alone even on a weekend, finding a seat shouldn't be a problem.
The Maggi Goreng is not only tasty but also comes in a large portion. The Teh Cino Iced is perfectly balanced with just the right amount of milk, tea, and ice. Unlike other places where the ice melts quickly, here they maintain a perfect balance, keeping your drink cold till the end.
For an added burst of flavor, I highly recommend asking for free plates of plain fish curry to pour over your Maggi Goreng. It elevates the taste experience to another level.
One aspect that could be improved is the order-taking process. First, you need to reserve a table, and then queue up at the counter to place your order. The person at the counter often takes their time, which can be frustrating. However, the majority of the staff are friendly, but the person at the counter could leave a better first impression on customers.
Despite this minor drawback, this place remains one of my go-to spots in Tampines for prata and other Indian-Muslim dishes. The food is delicious, the portions are generous, and the ambiance is comfortable once you...
Read more“The secret to ordering a fantastic plate of authentic dhum mutton briyani, at super value for money.”
Firstly,do a preliminary inspection of the briyani rice pot. The colour of the basmati rice should be light yellow, emitting a strong saffron fragrance; the rice firm, not soft, moist or oily looking. Secondly, having satisfied this requirement request for a dhum boned mutton, hidden in the rice , with at least 70 percent of tender meat attached to the bone. If you are unlucky, in a busy stall, where dishing and serving orders become fast and furious, the reverse can happen. So, to play safe , request for dhum mutton morsels that have been detached from the bone, during the dhum process. Rest assured, the small mutton pieces will likely be most and extra tender....plus you end up getting a greater amount of meat and rice for your money ! Final advice: patronise your favoured stall frequently so you will be perceived as a loyal and faithful customer.Exercise your clout, by threatening to switch to his competitors if the briyani seller refuses to accede to your special request.
As a rule of thumb, when you have three ‘not so busy’ briyani stalls competing for a rather low daily turnout of customers, every customer is treated like a VIP. That being the case, take advantage of it to get the Best Value for a $7.00 plate or box of dhum mutton briyani ! To add even more value, ask for an extra amount of beautiful saffron rice ( enough for two pax sharing ) and dhal curry, for free !
my favoured stall is ‘ Al Hossain ‘ the only stall which besides dhum chicken and mutton, also offers fried chicken, butter chicken and chicken tandoori/tika to go with its fragrant, light yellow, dhum briyani...
Read moreAl-Hussain prata place Service: Cashier guy was pretty funny and was not like other cashiers who only cared abt collecting money. The service was also efficient as the drink came within a minute. However the prata took around 15 minutes, which is a tad bit absurd but i would let this slide as there is quite alot of people.
Overall Service is rated a 7/10
Taste (Drinks) My milo tasted like milo, pretty standard cant go wrong. Yude’s teh beng is abit on the sweeter side but it tastes not bad
Overall rating for drinks: 8/10
(Food) The curry is bussing, its not too thick and has good flavour. What is good is that it has tinge of sourness. It’s not too spicy as well . However it easily overpowers the prata 😞. The prata tasted like prata, nothing special though. What made me a little sad was how the egg in the egg prata was not prominent. In other words, the egg prata tastes like normal prata which is a big nono. However, for the portion you get, it is quite okok
Overall rating for the food: 7.5/10
Price Food was abit on the pricey side, one piece of prata costed $1.20, which was higher than the average price of prata, $1. However, as i mentioned before, it is quite worth for the huge portion.
Overall rating for price: 7/10
Atmosphere/Amenities I love the atmosphere and energy here, it is pretty bussin, What makes it stand out from the rest is that there is aircon here which is something i don’t see in other prata places. There is also a clock here for us to tell the time.Furthermore there is a sink and a toilet here, which is a big win for me.
Overall rating for Atmosphere/Amenities: 8/10
Final Rating:8.47/10
Would come here again as i...
