I am writing to express my disappointment with a recent experience at your restaurant, which we visit regularly and have always enjoyed. The quality of the food has consistently been excellent, which is why we have been loyal customers for so long. However, our recent visit was marred by exceptionally poor service, which left us feeling quite disheartened.
We (2 couples)visited the Restaurant with our four young children, aged 3, 4, 5 and 8 years old for lunch on a Wednesday afternoon. As a family-friendly restaurant, we have always appreciated the welcoming atmosphere. However, on this occasion, we encountered a server whose demeanor was far from welcoming. Despite the restaurant not being busy—only three other tables were occupied—our server had a constant frown on her face, which even our 8-year-old noticed.
Our children, naturally energetic, made some noise, but this is to be expected in a family-oriented setting. The server's request to keep our children seated and not walking around was understandable, but her tone and attitude were quite harsh. We felt pressured to give our children phones to keep them seated and quiet, which detracted from the dining experience we were hoping to enjoy.
When I politely asked the server where her smile was, she did not even make eye contact and curtly said "no." This lack of courtesy and warmth was deeply disappointing and quite unlike the service we have experienced in the past at your restaurant.
My 8-year-old was so affected by the server’s attitude that she remarked we should not return. This is particularly unfortunate given our long history with your restaurant and the consistent quality of your food.
We hope that this feedback is taken constructively and that you will address the issues with your staff to ensure that your restaurant remains a welcoming place for families. We would love to continue dining at Bruno’s and hope that our next visit will reflect the high standards of service we have come to expect.
P.S we did ask another server for the name of the lady and she said we call her SiS not sure if...
Read moreBooked a table for the family for New Year's Dinner. Ordered the tenderloin, scallop linguine, hokkaido scallops antipasti, truffle fries and baked fish.
Must say, after the experience at Bruno's telok kurau, we really were disappointed.
First up, the bread was no longer free flow, although this isn't really a big issue.
Truffle fries were a trifle soggy, although the mayonnaise did make up to cover the greasy taste of the fries.
The antipasti scallops were ok; scallops were nicely done, although the dressing was a trifle overpowering.
What was the ultimate disappointment in the meal was the tenderloin; although its doneness was relatively acceptable, the steak came CUT UP🤔, and its surface was dried and charred, adding a bitter aftertaste to the steak. In addition, its charred exterior gave it a really rough texture.
The treatment of the tenderloin was anything but skilful, and one suspects that the steak was cut up by perhaps a rather inexperienced hand to ensure proper doneness. 😱
We all ordered a red wine reduction sauce to accompany the steak but what we all got was a brown sauce with porcini shaves which the waitress INSISTED was part of the red wine reduction sauce. 😅 When questioned, the waitress insisted it was part of the ingredient of ALL the sauces, red wine, pepper or mushroom. Extremely interesting take on steak sauces. 😝
BTW, we had the exact same dish at telok kurau, and neither was the steak cut up, nor was the red wine sauce accompanied with mushroom bits.
Not worth a second visit. Definitely too pricey for poor service and food that was worse than family restaurant quality, yet charges...
Read moreDisappointing return visit. Food and service quality dropped drastically since a year ago.
During arrival, we noticed something amiss immediately from the past visits. The waitresses were not clad in their usual serving attire, but in home t-shirts and shorts/pants.
After going through the e-menu for a few minutes, we were informed that pizzas will take 45mins to be ready. We thus ordered a Quattro Formaggi hastily, to minimise the timing mismatch with our mains.
Soon after, we completed the full order and noticed the olive oil and balsamic vinegar bread dip on the table and reckoned that the bread would be served.
After 10mins, surprisingly, the pizza arrived despite the 45min caution. The rest followed not too far apart, so that was fine.
Halfway through the meal, we checked on the bread, only to be told that we were only allowed one serving, which we promptly denied having any in the first place. Without apology or response, the waitress walked off, and we had to check with another staff on the status, to which we were told it was in the making.
The bread ultimately came last, albeit burnt at the edges.
Taste wise: Quattro Formaggi Pizza: 3/5 Penne Amatriciana: 3/5 Spaghetti Carbonara: 5/5 (this was great) Spaghetti Bolognese: 3/5 Lasagna De Carne: 4/5 Spaghetti alle Vongole: 4/5 (Great quantity of clams) Bread: 3.5/5
All in all, food was slightly above average, but service leaves quite a bit to be desired, especially for a reputable chain with...
