When you walk in, it has a nice open layout, despite being just next to the escalator. It also means everyone going on it, looks at you eating if you sit right next to it :) This place makes for a little confusion when you see the big salad bar & croissants on display upfront. I thought it was a sandwich place at first. There's a wall with lasagna & such in plastic tubs. That wasn't very appetising as it looked like frozen dinner meals that will be popped into the microwave. I was not tempted to take any of the selection. We ordered one chicken pizza slice & one salami pizza slice on recommendation of the cashier. Crust was very thin & a little hard from being out too long on heater. The taste was there but texture wasn't so good anymore. We decided to try 3 of the pasta selection. We had the crab meat in cream, the basil pesto & al funghi mushroom. All 3 pasta choices were spot on. Crab, fresh shitake & pesto came hot & taste was just right. Cream sauces usually can be too rich the longer you eat it. This wasn't. It was just right. The pesto also seemed too light at first but the flavour comes out well after a few bites. Crab meat pasta portion came out a little less...
Read moreFree seating turned into racial insult. Deeply disappointed by the humiliating experience at Gastronomia, Raffles City Shopping (City Hall). Despite politely confirming seating availability with the staff at the entrance, who explicitly indicated it was free seating, we found numerous seats inside labeled as “reserved.” Assuming these labels might be removed upon occupancy, we took seats accordingly. Shortly thereafter, service staff approached us aggressively, publicly embarrassed us, and rudely demanded we vacate these seats, pointing dismissively to the “reserved” signs. When we re-accounted the affair, all we got from Staff Manager was cold “Ok, so?”. That’s it, no apologies .
This hostile confrontation felt deliberate, and the insolent attitude of the staff strongly suggested a racial bias undertone. Such reckless behavior significantly tarnishes the dining experience. Immediate reflection and improvement in staff conduct are urgently required.

Read moreDa Paolo Gastronomia is a very eye-catching restaurant - it's hard to miss the huge assortment of pastries and meringues on display at their storefront. However, it serves more than just that, offering a healthy variety of salads, pastas, and other breakfast items.
The egg breakfasts were delicious. My personal order the last time I visited was scrambled eggs with smoked salmon, accompanied by 2 toasted slices of bread and a salad. The portion was just right, and with a beverage of your choice, I'd daresay it was a perfect breakfast.
I also had the opportunity to enjoy their almond croissants, which was flaky, buttery, and not overly-sweet. The pastry was also baked in generous sizes, and it took both me and my friend to completely finish it. To the croissant's credit, she found it delicious as well.
Be warned though, the prices are not the cheapest around town, which is expected considering the more premium quality of the food. Overall, Da Paolo Gastronomia is an excellent choice should one feel like having the occasional lovely and...
