I recently dined at this restaurant for the first time and had mixed feelings about my experience. While the food portions were impressively large and delicious, I was left disappointed by the service provided.
On the positive side, the staff members were polite and friendly, but unfortunately, their shortage of manpower made it difficult to get their attention when needed. As a result, it took longer than expected to have our needs addressed, which was frustrating.
I opted for the medium-sized pot of Mushroom Herb Soup, accompanied by Enoki mushrooms, Vermicelli, and potatoes. The medium portion turned out to be much more than enough for two people. Despite the generous servings and the addition of side dishes, we were only able to finish half of what we ordered.
One of the most disappointing aspects was the lack of attention from the service staff when it came to refilling the correct soup. Despite explicitly requesting a "non-spicy" refill, both times they mistakenly refilled it with the spicy soup. This oversight greatly affected our dining experience, as the spiciness was too much for us to handle, resulting in us leaving more than half of the dish uneaten.
However, given the restaurant's redeeming qualities, I might still consider returning in the future. The condition would be that they ensure they refill the soup according to my request for a non-spicy alternative. If this condition is not met, I'm afraid I won't be visiting the restaurant again.
Considering the portion sizes and the flavorsome taste of the food, the price of $68 for a Medium Pot, Enoki mushrooms, Potatoes, Vermicelli, a bowl of rice, and 2 pints of Asahi beers seems reasonable. It's worth noting that the affordability of the meal compensates for some of the disappointments encountered during the dining experience.
In summary, this restaurant has potential with its tasty and generously portioned food. However, improvements in service, particularly when it comes to attentiveness and accuracy in fulfilling customer requests, are crucial for a more enjoyable...
Read moreNever in my life had such bad experience with a restaurant. I have been eating far bird since when I was a poly student, from there was only single floor to double floor, till when you guys opened a store at CCK food court and eventually closed, supported at least every week. Introduced tons of friends and colleagues to your restaurant. During COVID also called for delivery home. I could remember there was a very kind aunty and an uncle as service staff, the manager were always busy but attending patiently.
However today, when I took a taxi down from office to have lunch with another friend, an empty table just nice for two right in front of us with pot and cutleries ready to serve customer, the franchise manager of Bugis told us it is a dangerous table to sit and it’s only for them to place other objects. A couple next to that table kindly talked to us saying they were finishing and ready to leave so that we could have the table, the manager stopped them and threatened them for charging them for having left overs.
Then me and my friend stood at side to read menu and wait for table and people start to queue behind us, and the manager came back from counter asked “do you want to leave your number”, we left our number and my friend got a call, after her call we saw a group of customer was leaving so we went back to the queue, and the manager came to attend us and ask us what we were doing, and then he told us there were 3 groups of customers in front of us waiting and we need to wait at least another hour.
Me and my friend also work in service industry, we could understand human body gets tired, but his attitude is totally not acceptable. Me and my friend will never come back if the Bugis franchise manager does not change...
Read moreFood was really quite nice, portions were huge, and pricing was super reasonable. Business was pretty good on a weekend night, but we still managed to get a seat without any reservations. They have seats on both the first and second floor.
Ordering is done via QR code. We opted for their Signature Chicken Pot set for 2 - 3 pax. The dishes included: • Cucumber Salad: This was good, they were really generous with the sauce so it was tasty. • Stir Fried Cauliflower with Pork: This was super flavourful, the pork was also fried to perfection till it was crisp and very fragrant. • Signature Fragrant Spicy Chicken Pot (Mild): You can choose between this and the Classic House Special Chicken Pot, and also customise the spiciness level. The taste was good, I'd probably opt for the spiciest level next time as the spice kick could be stronger for me. There is also an option to select boneless chicken at an additional cost of $3, which is perhaps a good idea considering that most of the parts we got were just bones. • Sliced Pork with Green Chilli: This was also sufficiently flavourful and had a relatively good spice kick to it compared to the other ones I've had elsewhere. I also liked how the pork wasn't overly soft. • Watermelon and Coconut Ice Dessert: This was just alright, it was very sweet.
The set also comes with two bowls of refillable rice. They also gave us two fried dough fritters on the house that actually went really well with the chicken pot sauce!
Overall, it's a great place to visit if you're craving some authentic cuisine from China at extremely...
