THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE from the GM Thomas and Manager Monty at Huber's Bistro. Not child friendly, left disappointed and would never go back again.
We went to the Bistro for a meal today with our 2 year old and 4 year old and requested a high chair for the 2 year old inside their restaurant. Manager Monty told us that they can only offer high chairs for the alfresco area but not in the restaurant. It was a hot day so we really wanted to sit indoors. So we asked for the rationale for such a rule and he had no response except that, "This is a management decision." We pointed towards their board that said "prams and strollers not allowed in the restaurant" with no mention of high chairs there. To this Mr Monty said, "Yes, management forgot to mention this on the board, but yes high chairs aren't allowed.. The baby can sit on a regular chair." A toddler can't sit on a regular chair, its a safety issue, not to mention very inconvenient to feed. We requested to speak to the GM so he could explain the reason for such a strange policy and maybe offer an alternative.
But we were in for a treat. Mr Monty's response was nothing compared to the bizarre conversation we had with the GM Mr Thomas. Mr Thomas' ONLY explanation was that "Mr Huber has decided this so high chairs are not allowed inside the restaurant." We asked for the rationale for this policy because otherwise it would be a rather silly rule to have. To this he responded that "there are lots of silly rules in this land" and there are many restaurants that have a similar policy (we've never come across one). When my husband raised the safety of our child, Mr Thomas simply repeated that this is Mr Huber's decision. By this point, we had heard enough so we left.
It's surprising that in this day and age where we're teaching our kids to question and challenge the status quo and as a society we're learning to improve and innovate - we still encounter people who blindly follow rules without even understanding or explaining the logic behind, forget trying to accommodate or brainstorm a solution. We love how as a society we're so inclusive, this restaurant wasn't one of those. High chairs don't take up extra space, restaurants replace existing chairs to set up the high chair and are much safer for babies to sit on than the regular chair. So a rule like this left us wondering why the management had made such a decision. More importantly, why couldn't the staff manage a customer's request in a more logical, accommodating and polite manner.
Extremely disappointed. Sad that our little kids had to witness an...
Read moreDecided to visit Huber Bistro to have some good meats & also pop by the huber butchery to get some cheese, pastrami & olives for some home party. It was a really sunny day and outdoor seating was the only available seats so we took it up while the little kids go to play at the playground next to it. What a brilliant way to get in the workout & then food later.
We had a variety of food, made it a point to try curry wurst because I missed that when I was in Berlin. Argentina steak was juicy and flavourful, love the boiled vegetables beside it, we swapped the fries with the creamed spinach, which tasted much more blend than other places we tried, I think there was missing cheese which give it a milder taste. French onion soup made with 2 kinds of onions has a piece of bread on top but also missing out cheese, we were joking that whether the restaurant ran out of it LOL.
I love my order of the lamb chops, although portion is not big but it was very flavourful and cooked just right, even the kids loved it and wanted more of it.
Sausage wise, we ordered 2 kinds, you can’t really go wrong with the curry ketchup that goes with the Berliner sausage, the chunky fries went very well with it and because we have kids with us, they offer to separate the sauce for us, nice touch. It was my first time to eat the German pasta made with eggs, I love the buttery and mild flavor, goes really well as a side with the rest of the dishes we have.
Pork Cordon Bleu was cooked well too, with generous amounts of salad and also some really good potato salad with a nice balance of mustard in it. The kids got schnitzel with fries again, and they were stuffed by the portion. Kids meal hot dog nothing to shout about but always a kid’s favourite.
After finishing the wholesome lunch, although it was a really warm and sunny afternoon, we head to the supermarket upstairs and loaded up different snacks and the kids have a really nice time with the ice cream eating in front of the mini waterfall at the front of the restaurant. A afternoon well...

Could be more meaty though. White asparagus (250g) served with a 130g of grilled milk-fed veal loin steak ($31) - Excellent ingredients and cooking. Good value. Came with 7 stalks of white asparagus. Spatzli ($3.80) - Fine. Quail roulade with filling of turkey ham, Gruyere, chicken mousse, pistachio & cranberries ($18.50) - The quail was tender and juicy. Stuffed and roasted pork belly - not bad.
