My sister and I had dinner @ Lucca's Trattoria on 28th April 2025. A cozy Italian restaurant nestled along Tiong Bahru's shophouses. It serves authentic Italian food that uses premium DOP ingredients from Italy!
Those who have not tried authentic Italian food [not the overly seasoned frozen "Italian" food] should definitely give this cozy dine-in a try. Ignore the one-two star comments because their taste buds are definitely dead due to over exposure to salt/sugar content 😃
~ Zuppa Tre Funghi (mushroom soup) Mushroom lovers: MUST-TRY!!! What makes a perfect mushroom soup? A variety of mushrooms cooked with truffle oil 🤤 I could smell the mushrooms even before it was brought to our table! so rich and not too thick, the perfect consistency!
~ Gamberi Alla Busara (tiger prawns in calabrian spicy tomato sauce) A generous serving of fresh prawns, paired beautifully with a spicy tomato suace (My sis and I dislike tomato sauce but it was so good we had to drink the leftover sauce 🤭) Tomatoes were perfectlly cooked, creating a flavourful dish
~ Spinach and Ricotta Ravioli This was my sister's and my favourite - it cannot get any authentic than this!! The spinach and ricotta was such an amazing pairing it just explodes with flavour without all the unnecessary oversalted/seasonings. LOVE! the sauce was perfect 😭 I need this everyday!
~ Tiramisu Lucca (with marsala wine, white rum, kahlua, espresso) ALCOHOLIC DESSERT BE WARNED!!! Hahaha my Sis and I didn't read the ingredients and consumed bites of this! If you're a STRONG coffee lover, get this one. The whole ensemble is so pretty to look at & it's a fun way to end your meal (with a buzz 🤣)
~ gelato lucca - pistachio (very generous scoop of pistachio ice cream) In SG, pistachio flavour was introduced to us with added ingredients like white choc, sugar, etc to appease the taste buds. However authentic Pistachio flavour has an earthy, slightly sweet, a little salty taste. This was a perfect end to our dinner : light, palatable, we enjoyed the real taste of pistachios- YUM
to the 2 who were on shift yesterday, THANK YOU for the pleasant interaction, warm welcome, check backs, we truly had an...

Food ordered: ○ Starters — Caprese Con Mozzarella Di Bufala; Parmigiana Melanzane; Bruschetta ○ Pasta — Polpo Alla Griglia x 2 (but one with an additional side of shrimp) ○ Drinks: None.
All the dishes we sampled were well executed. The starters, tho' not particularly extraordinary, were definitely flavorful and made from good quality ingredients — just about what one may reasonably expect from any "good" Italian restaurant.
But we definitely enjoyed our pasta! The pasta delivered on taste & visual pleasure — perfectly al dente spaghetti, beautifully coated with the unctuous richness of a generous amount of squid ink, and perfectly balanced by the uplifting zest of the juice from the charred lemon wedge. Yummmm!
(Tho', for those who prefer more protein in the dish to offset such a delectable carb-overload, you will do well to order an additional side of perfectly done shrimp to compliment the slices of polpo!)
But the true stand out of our entire meal? — for us, it was the truly gracious service we received from Bianca that really elevated our dining experience at Lucca's! What a beautiful, warm, open-hearted person she is — her infectious smile & affable personality is the sort of "special ingredient" that no kitchen can ever cook up, and which can magically enhance one's dining experience with the kind of delight that's also capable of feeding your heart!
Thank you, Bianca — besides the fine food, your service is what will ensure us continuing to return to dine at...
Read moreWe finally got to check this Italian restaurant off our "must-try" list! We came at the perfect time—no crowd, no reservation needed.
For starters, we went with the bread and chicken liver. It’s a little plain for our taste, but we get what the chef was going for—keeping the liver's natural flavor intact. It’s actually really well-executed, with no unpleasant smell and a rich liver taste. That said, both my wife and I lean toward a more flavorful take on chicken liver.
Moving on to the mains, we had the Pistachio Burrata Pizza and the Seafood Risotto. Let me just say, the pizza was next level! The pistachio brought this earthy vibe that balanced out the cheese and kept it from feeling too heavy. The ham added just the right amount of meaty goodness, so it’s not strictly vegetarian. The burrata? Nice, not mind-blowing, but it worked with the pizza overall.
The risotto was another win—simple but so well done. It didn’t go overboard with fancy flavors or ingredients, but it nailed that perfect salty, ocean-fresh taste. Every bite felt like a chilled-out seafood hug for your taste buds.
For dessert, we had the tiramisu. It’s a slice from a whole cake, and while it hit all the right notes, we couldn’t help but feel it could’ve been just a bit better.
We ended the meal with espresso and macchiato since they were out of piccolo. The coffee was fantastic—bold and smoky, just how we like it.
All in all, it’s a solid spot for Italian food. Some dishes had a bit of a pre-made vibe, but that’s just speculation. Definitely worth trying if you’re in the mood for...
