It's been 2 days since Sunday Roast cooked up a storm at my 21st birthday and I don't think my friends and I can wait until my 22nd to indulge in their expertise again.
There’re two types of BBQs: one leaves you (and possibly your sore throat/upset stomach) regretting that extra stick of satay dripping in peanut sauce, over-charred chicken wing or that sad under-cooked attempt at medium-rare; the other leaves you wishing you had primed your stomach for a bigger capacity. The team at Sunday Roast provides the latter.
The menu for the night was simple - 3 meats to cater to different palates. We ordered the NZ Ocean Angus Ribeye, Rosemary Lamb Chops and their Signature Honey Soy Chicken Leg.
When Xavier reached with goods in hand, he asked me the all-important question, “how do you like your meat done?” I knew this guy meant business when we could settle for nothing more or less than medium-rare.
The NZ Ocean Angus Ribeye, cooked perfectly to a medium-rare, was the melt-in-your-mouth kind of deal. The marbling was absolutely wonderful and while not all my friends are crazy about a good, fatty steak, every bit of the ribeye was polished off. The Rosemary Lamb Chops were full of flavour and yielded with just the right amount of chew to the first bite. Even though we ordered these in a smaller quantity, it had its fair share of attention. As for the chicken, I am usually quite skeptical when people label their stuff as “Signature”. Couldn’t you just call the meat as it is? Yet, the skeptic in me was silenced because their SIGNATURE Honey Soy Chicken Leg lived up to its label. The marinate was rich and exciting, the meat juicy and light; unlike any other chicken I’ve had at a BBQ. It all came together in a lovely dish that wasn’t jelat, as many other “Signature” Honey Soy Chicken Legs often become.
Food aside (ah so difficult because I’m still craving). The entire process was immaculate and efficient. Ian did a great job in communicating whatever I needed to know and he was super prompt and patient in his replies. Xavier was right on time to set up the BBQ before the bulk of the guests arrived so they wouldn’t have to wait to fill their tummies. Kenneth, Estelle and Jin Hao offered much warmth to the party even as they diligently and lovingly prepared the food/took photos.
All in all, the Singaporean BBQ scene is blessed to have the gents and lady at Sunday Roast BBQ around. Their passion for great food and a memorable experience is unparalleled and it really shows in every inch of their service, from planning to cleaning up.
To Sunday Roast, from my friends and family, we love what you’re doing and thank you making our tummies happy and our...
Read moreWe had a birthday celebration and there was a small group of 10. It was my first time arranging a private BBQ session. Sunday Roast is in lack of a better word, awesome! They were incredibly prompt in their response which was the main reason why I went with Sunday Roast over anyone else. The service that followed, the accommodation, the customisation of the menu, etc was more than what I had honestly expected. We had a great BBQ session and a wonderful birthday celebration and much of that factor was down to the awesome BBQ food that Sunday Roast had recommended and the friendliness of Xavier. I would look no where else if I need to arrange another private BBQ session! Thanks for...
Read moreUsed Sunday Roast for a pool party/BBQ to alleviate the need for one of my guest (or myself) to have to cook endlessly throughout the event. They were very expedient and helpful in the lead up to the event, helping to make organization remarkably easy.
The two chefs showed up right on time and were very professional. There was plenty of food - and the quality of all the meats were exceptional (both the meat itself and how it was prepared). All my guests were impressed by the service and many were asking for their business cards for future events.
I highly recommend Sunday Roast to anyone looking to host a BBQ and I will surely use them for...
