We came down to try their seasonal menu celebrating Singapore's Heritage Peranakan food, made in collaboration with Chef Damian D'Silva, the judge from Masterchef!

๐—ฆ๐—ถ๐—ด๐—ป๐—ฎ๐˜๐˜‚๐—ฟ๐—ฒ ๐—ก๐—ฎ๐˜€๐—ถ ๐—Ÿ๐—ฒ๐—บ๐—ฎ๐—ธ ($๐Ÿต) ๐Ÿฅฅ๐Ÿš Chef Damian's take on Nasi Lemak is not to be overlooked. Chef shared that the rice was soaked overnight and steamed dry, before adding ginger, pandan leaf, and coconut milk to be steamed again. The effort and labour to incorporate these flavours and aroma into the rice was evident. The Nasi Lemak was fluffy, light, and delightfully flavourful and lemak, much unlike the wet and oily ones we know of. We took spoonful after spoonful of the rice - itโ€™s a nasi lemak so good you can have it with just sambal (how Chef likes to have it too), and we loved it so much that we had seconds!

This dish featured fresh prawns cooked with sambal, shrimp paste, and calamansi for a sour finish. The prawns were sweet and juicy, and elevated by that addictive sambal sauce which had us imploring Chef to divulge the secret ingredient. The sambal sauce was sweet, mildly spicy, but really aromatic - the combination of spices would almost dance across your mouth. Pairing this with a scoop of that Nasi Lemak was perfect!

This was a classic Malay delicacy consisting of chicken cooked with a fragrant paste in a luxurious coconut gravy. The marination was done to a tee! The chicken was tender and gently lemak, yet not greasy or surfeiting.

๐—ฆ๐—ฎ๐˜†๐˜‚๐—ฟ ๐—Ÿ๐—ผ๐—ฑ๐—ฒ๐—ต ๐˜„๐—ถ๐˜๐—ต ๐—๐—ฎ๐—ฐ๐—ธ๐—ณ๐—ฟ๐˜‚๐—ถ๐˜ ($๐Ÿญ๐Ÿด) A delicious selection of cabbage, long beans, tempeh, and young jackfruit was cooked in a spiced broth and coconut milk. The jackfruit was slightly fibrous and added such a unique sweetness to the vegetables. A good Sayur Lodeh, especially one with jackfruit, is hard to come by, and this dish was a definite standout for us.

๐—ž๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐—ฏ๐˜‚ ๐—œ๐—ธ๐—ฎ๐—ป ๐—ง๐—ฒ๐—ป๐—ด๐—ด๐—ถ๐—ฟ๐—ถ ($๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿฎ) On a bed of wing beans, cherry tomatoes, and long beans, the spanish mackerel was substantial and yummy. However, it was actually the salad that surprised us all! The wing beans were fresh and finely sliced, and provided a delicious crunch to the dish. This paired very well with the acidic and mildly spicy sauce which made the otherwise unsuspecting looking vegetables so delicious.

๐—•๐—ฒ๐—ฒ๐—ณ ๐—ฅ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐—ฑ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ด ($๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿด) This classic Indonesian dish featured beef cheeks cooked in a delicious gravy. The spices were intricate and well-balanced, and permeated the beef fully! There was no doubt that the beef cheeks were stewed and cooked for a very long time, as the meat was SO tender and soaked up all the flavours from the stew.

Finally, weโ€™re talking about their homemade ๐—ž๐˜‚๐—ถ๐—ต ๐—ฆ๐—ฒ๐˜ ๐—ผ๐—ณ ๐Ÿด ($๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿฎ.๐Ÿฐ๐Ÿฌ). This beautiful plate of traditional kuehs consists of their:

These kuehs cannot be kept outside for long (well, they were quickly snapped up anyway HAHA) - because they are specially crafted from fresh coconut milk. This made the kuehs so creamy and luxurious, and simply melted in our mouths leaving a nice coconut fragrance!

Our favourite had to be The glutinous rice had a pleasant sticky texture and was vibrantly coloured with that blue pea! In fact, you can mix and match the kuehs however you like them in platter of 4 or 8.

This collaboration menu surely impressed us. Beyond the superb taste, the menu truly commemorates Singaporeโ€™s heritage foods, and we felt that each dish really embodies our Peranakan culture. Chef Damian Dโ€™Silvaโ€™s dishes will be available at Surrey Hillโ€™s Woodleigh Mall outlet until 30th April.

I recently visited this fantastic restaurant with a group of three adults, a sweet little baby, and our furry friend, and I must say, it was an extraordinary experience! From the moment we stepped in, it was clear that we had stumbled upon a gem.

Let's start with the most important aspect of any dining experience - the food. The food quality was exceptional, just as we've come to expect from this place. We ordered a range of dishes, and each one was a culinary masterpiece. The unique burger was a standout, bursting with flavors and cooked to perfection. The pork belly benedict was a delightful twist on a classic, and the chicken pancakes were a revelation, especially when paired with their awesome whipped butter. And I can't forget to mention the coffee โ€“ consistently great and a perfect pick-me-up.

What truly sets this restaurant apart, besides the amazing food, is the welcoming and friendly staff. They went above and beyond to make us feel at home, and they even accommodated our furry friend with a warm smile. It's not every day that you find an indoor dog-friendly restaurant, so we were thrilled to discover this little haven for pet lovers. It's clear that they care about both their two-legged and four-legged customers.

The decor and ambience of the restaurant are charming and homely. It's the kind of place that immediately puts you at ease, making you feel like you're dining in a close friend's cozy living room. The warm and inviting atmosphere adds an extra layer of comfort to the dining experience, making it a perfect spot for family outings.

All in all, our visit to this restaurant was nothing short of exceptional. From the unique and delicious dishes to the warmth of the staff, and the welcoming atmosphere, we couldn't have asked for a better dining experience. We'll be back for sure, with our baby and furry friend in tow, because this restaurant has quickly become a cherished part of our dining repertoire. If you're looking for a place that offers top-notch food and welcomes your whole family, both human and furry, this is the...

Came here on a Monday morning around 10 am a few days after they were officially open. First thing that struck me when I entered the restaurant was, there was no wait staff around to bring me to a table. I had to signal a barista before I was led to one. Secondly, when I was brought to my table, the waitress informed me and my friend that at that time, only pastries were available. Upon confirmation with another waitress who said it was her first day at work, we realised what the first waitress said was not true. Instead only 3 items were not available for order. When my sunny side up with bacon and pancakes were served, I noticed one of the egg yolk were broken. Not a biggie but they didnโ€™t serve maple syrup as well. When we asked for it telling the waitress that it was supposed to be given as indicated in the menu, she actually denied it until we showed her the wordings on the digital menu. We felt that their wait staff seem undertrained. The same wait staff was seen serving 2 expresso to the customer next to the table to us when he already had his coffee on the table. It was obviously a wrong table she served. Same staff also tried to serve us the coffee next table guy ordered.

Now the comments on the eggs. They were horribly salty that I felt my blood pressure were going up. They would do better to halt the salt and pepper and let us season our food ourselves. Bacon was aplenty but also quite salty. Pancakes were alright, nothing to shout about. My friend had the pumpkin soup and she said it was nice though a bit on the salty side.

The only redeeming factor was the nice decor, revolving train and music. Last but not least, if I didnโ€™t read that this cafe was pet friendly, I would be really surprised that dogs are allowed in here because there is no visible sign outside the cafe to indicate. Hopefully all other patrons who enter are not...

Great food served hot and delicious, with a fantastic atmosphere that genuinely made me feel like I was in Australia. Sharing a meal surrounded by adorable dogs really lifted our mood. (And yes, the prices definitely add to that Aussie experience too! ๐Ÿ˜„)

This beautiful plate of traditional kuehs consists of their: ๐—ฃ๐˜‚๐—น๐˜‚๐˜ ๐—•๐—ฒ๐—ป๐—ด๐—ธ๐—ฎ ๐—ง๐—ฎ๐—น๐—ฎ๐—บ ๐—ฃ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฑ๐—ฎ๐—ป ๐—ฆ๐—ฎ๐—ด๐—ผ ๐—•๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฑ๐˜‚๐—ป๐—ด ๐—ž๐˜‚๐—ถ๐—ต ๐—ž๐—ผ๐˜€๐˜‚๐—ถ ๐—ž๐˜‚๐—ถ๐—ต ๐—•๐—ฎ๐—ธ๐—ฎ๐—ฟ ๐— ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฑ๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐—ป ๐—ข๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ด๐—ฒ ๐—›๐˜‚๐—ฎ๐˜ ๐—ž๐˜‚๐—ถ๐—ต ๐—ง๐—ฎ๐—น๐—ฎ๐—บ ๐—จ๐—ฏ๐—ถ ๐—–๐—ต๐—ฒ๐—ณ ๐——๐—ฎ๐—บ๐—ถ๐—ฎ๐—ป'๐˜€ ๐—ฆ๐—ถ๐—ด๐—ป๐—ฎ๐˜๐˜‚๐—ฟ๐—ฒ ๐—ž๐˜‚๐—ถ๐—ต ๐—ฆ๐—ฎ๐—น๐—ฎ๐˜ These kuehs cannot be kept outside for long (well, they were quickly snapped up anyway HAHA) - because they are specially crafted from fresh coconut milk. Follow us on IG @toofoodtomiss for more foodie content!

Great food served hot and delicious, with a fantastic atmosphere that genuinely made me feel like I was in Australia. Sharing a meal surrounded by adorable dogs really lifted our mood. (And yes, the prices definitely add to that Aussie experience too! ๐Ÿ˜„)

If you're looking for a place that offers top-notch food and welcomes your whole family, both human and furry, this is the place to be!
