My family and I have been supporting this outlet since they'd first opened. It used to be a veritable plethora of sushi goodness with so many options—half shell scallop, surf clam, ankimo, proper aburi salmon with a smoky taste (the ones on the belt nowadays are a far cry from how they used to be), just to name a few.
We'd noticed a gradual decline in standards every visit, in terms of variety/portion sizes/service, but continued patronizing them as we felt we couldn't be too picky for $1.50 (plus it was still good enough). Today was the final straw though. They no longer serve even the most basic of raw sushi options other than like 5 different varieties of salmon, tako, and amaebi -.-
They also seem to be extremely understaffed. 3 servers on a busy Saturday evening is DEFINITELY not enough. It took them more than 5 minutes to lead us to a table because a deluge of guests were leaving and they were clearing ALL the tables first which I feel is either a bad policy or just poor decision making or they're simply way too overworked to notice. It was so hard to get their attention short of waving around like a mad person.
Thanks for the good memories...
Read moreRecently, I realised when the manager is inside the kitchen or not around, the service is horrendous.
I tried to get the service staff's attention, she told me in a rude tone to wait, in Chinese. It's honestly ridiculous that I'm paying for service charge. The staff are not sharp to notice raised hands, I raised on 2 separate occasions but had to wait long both times. I am perfectly alright to be asked to wait, but there's no excuse to be rude, or say in a rude tone.
It's a Saturday evening and there's no queue at all at this outlet, before and after I dined.
Previously, there was an opening promo at this outlet when any plate was $1.50 & the queue was snaking long. And it was so quick and efficient.
Personally I've went to the sushi express outlet at northpoint on a weekend dinner time & the staff there were all very prompt and I had no issues at all with that outlet.
Highly recommend anyone to avoid Sun Plaza outlet if this particular older lady service staff is working.

Read moreI'm a regular who would patron once a week on dinner time, sometimes i would come at 9pm and the soy sauce and some dishes would be kept away or no longer in production which i could understand
But yesterday 7 Oct when i visited with my partner, around 8.35pm, there was no soup, no salmon sashimi, no soy sauce. When i sat down, i had to request for soy sauce only to be given a few 4 packets. If there were 2 staffs closing for the day i can relate but there were 4 or more staffs in the front of house
When i called for a waiter to count my plates, a lady staff asked me to call the staff at the back of the restaurant instead.
If the business closes for last order at 9.30pm shouldn't all dishes and condiments be available for customer to order latest by 9.30pm?
Overall not a pleasant...
