Doubtful on Credibility of Good Ratings!

Food: -Fried Pork Noodle S$14.90: Barely any dressing to toss the noodles properly, resulting in dry, flavorless strands. The pork was tough, dry, and full of chunky bones left very little enjoyment. The soup was not hot enough, just luke warm.

Banh Mi S$10.90 Nothing extraordinary worth the price

-Garlic Truffle Fries S$9.90: Charged as truffle fries but there was no truffle aroma or taste. It feels like the “truffle” name exists only to justify the price.

Service: -The service was blunt and borderline rude. When we asked for sharing bowls already on the table, the server snapped, “It’s just right there,” in a condescending tone. The tray made the table cramped, making four seats feel like two.

-Requesting tap water with ice? The reply: “We don’t serve water.” No alternatives offered. The attitude suggested dealing with guests is more of a chore than a courtesy.

Overall: -The shop has a stylish, fusion-style exterior but the interior experience fails entirely. Overpriced and underwhelming food combined with unfriendly, confrontational service makes for a disappointing visit. It’s easy to see why the Sunday lunch crowd was practically nonexistent.

Payment: -No PayWave. Reason given: “Server is down.” Whether it’ll ever come back is anyone’s guess.

Extra Thoughts: -The place seems to rely more on looks and trendy names than actual quality. Every aspect from dry pork to non-existent truffle fries and combative service leaves the impression of style over substance. Definitely not worth the hype or the price.

On a recent evening, my friends and I dined at Vietsea (Vua Lau), a Vietnamese restaurant near our hotel in Singapore’s vibrant Vietnamese district. Drawn by the area’s cultural vibe, we were pleasantly surprised by the restaurant’s extensive menu, offering both authentic Vietnamese dishes and Western options. The atmosphere was inviting, though notably without air conditioning, so we recommend visiting during cooler hours. We took advantage of their periodic special offers, ordering a 250g strip lion steak, discounted from $29 to $17, served with two sides. The steak was decent—solid for the price, offering great value. We also tried the chicken skewers (5 pieces), which were satisfactory, and the Thai-style grilled squid, which was good but not standout. The highlight was the pork chop rice vermicelli, accompanied by two spring rolls, bursting with flavor and highly recommendable. Their Vietnamese bread was on special for just $4, but we were too full to try it. We rounded out the meal with four beers (downside, only 1 beer choice, Saigon beer 330ml bottle), bringing the total to $114—a fair deal for the quality and portion. The service was exceptional, with attentive and warm staff earning a perfect 5 stars. Vietsea’s occasional promotions are worth checking for potential surprises. We’d return if in the area, especially for the pork chop and to explore more specials.

I literally have no clue how they were able to get to a 4.8 overall rating. When we got there, we weren't greeted and didn't get to order until we went to the counter after waiting unsuccessfully for about 20 min. Another issue was that most employees weren't very comfortable speaking and understanding English. I overheard a couple misunderstandings at the next table. The staff were still preparing for the guests, as it seemed but they weren't very attentive while preparing as they didn't notice their guests wanting something and needing to shout to gain their attention. When we finally got the food, I was very disappointed. The portion was generous and it was neatly organized in the bowl but the food itself was not good. My Tofu Noodles seemed like they threw the raw ingredients into the bowl and set a small bowl with soy sauce next to it. I was basically served pre-purchased deep fried tofu strips, plain rice noodles topped with some lettuce and sliced carrots. It tasted very much like mediocre Instant Noodles so I found it quite pricey (12,90 SGD) for the lack of effort. My partner's Chicken Fried Noodles were also not good. The meat tasted off and in total, there was a lack of spices that normally would make a meal out of different ingredients. I would not recommend going there, as both the service and the food are not good at all. At least the decoration is nice. But sadly,...

Firstly, despite the restaurant being less busy (only two other tables besides ours), our food took 45 minutes to arrive. We came as a group of five and ordered the Hotpot Buffet Combo B for two pax, plus three other mains (broken rice, beef pho, and seafood noodles) and several sides (potato leaf vegetables, quail birds, garlic butter corn). This was clearly a mix of buffet for two and regular portions for the rest not a buffet for the whole table. However, the restaurant insisted on charging us for five pax for the hotpot just because everyone had a tiny taste of it. This is ridiculous, especially since we had already ordered proper individual meals for those not eating the hotpot. After awhile they reduced it to three pax, but even still, the extra person barely ate anything from the hotpot and they still charged us. The whole experience felt unreasonable and scammy. Would not recommend this place to anyone. There are better food places in Geylang, dont waste your money here, you will be left frustrated and ripped off. To top it off, we were charged $7.80 for two bottles of ice mountain mineral water (which came to $8.58 after service charge) — an outrageous price for a regular food place, if u ask me.
