Read moreEmpress Dowager wanted to try the new restaurant at Raffles Arcade and since they serve Hairy Crab as well, it was a bonus. 藝 yi by Jereme Leung is a Fine Dining Chinese restaurant serving modern interpretation of classic Chinese dishes. Arriving at 6pm, the restaurant was mostly empty and remained so till 7:30pm, so it was a mystery as to why there was no reservation spots available on the Chope App after 6pm until after 8:30pm.
On arrival, the entrance had beautiful decorations mimicking the fall of leaves but in white. After being seated, the staff came to check on the pre-order items of the Hairy Crabs. One of the cooking styles, the Salt-Baked Hairy Crab, required more time to prepare so pre-order of at least 1 day is required. The staff then took the order for the rest of the meal.
I found the Hairy Crab experience here a tad disappointing when compared to Paradise Seafood @ Vivocity. Then again, the crabs here are smaller in size, hence more affordable, and also the season is at the end, so less roe in the crabs. As this are things that the restaurant have no control over, blame cannot be fully placed on the restaurant.
The rest of the meal was generally acceptable but there is no Wow Factor. However, the Suzhou Style Pork Pastries with Crab Meat and Roe was so good. It was juicy and flavourful. Similarly, the dessert options were very well done too.
All in an acceptable, albeit expensive, meal with some hits and misses but thankfully the hits came later in the meal to give it a good ending. The service by the staff was wonderful and was the only other high point of the meal.
General Verdict: Fine Dining Chinese restaurant serving modern interpretation of classic Chinese dishes. Pastry dishes are the best here and so are their desserts. The mains are generally hits and misses, depending on what you order. Can be considered a visit once for the experience then return only if there are items on the menu that entices you back.

We chose five Cantonese dishes, each a culinary masterpiece that perfectly balanced flavor, presentation, and aroma. The freshness of the ingredients and the precision in cooking were evident in every bite. Whether it was the rich depth of the soup, the tender succulence of the meats, or the intricate blend of spices, every dish showcased the chef's exceptional skill. The portions for each dish were quite generous, more than we could possibly finish in one sitting, which truly highlighted the restaurant's hospitality. Ultimately, we had to request to take some of the food away. The sheer deliciousness of the cuisine meant we didn't want to waste a single morsel, and we were pleased to be able to continue enjoying the flavors at home.
