Mlyn 108 — Restaurant in Modra

I ordered the Semolina gnocchi with ricotta goat cheese, creamy chanterelle mushrooms and garlic. (So fluffy and rich! I’m extremely picky about gnocchi and there’s about only a 10% chance that I would be satisfied with a gnocchi dish, and this did it.) Dry-aged entrecôte with herb butter. (Perfect, I probably say a steak dish is perfect about once a year.) Potatoes with radish, red onion and vinegar. (Superb raw materials, smart textural play, and the vinegar is the star of the dish.)

This was one of my favorite meals in Slovakia during my two-week trip. The restaurant is about 30km from the city center of Bratislava, and it’s worth making a detour if you’re in Bratislava.

We had team dinner for 22 (+2) people here at Mlyn 108. Chef was very professional, he prepared 4 course menu for the whole international group and special menus for people with dietary and religion restrictions. Food was delicious and we enjoyed every bit of it. Things we did not like - missing A/C! This was total fail. It was extremly hot inside the restaurant. And a lot of mosquitos outside. Zatiaľ jediné miesto na Slovensku, v ktorom som zažila servis, ako v USA - to znamená, že čašníčka vedela, z ktorej strany sa nalieva, ako sa drží fľaša, ako sa servíruje jedlo a víno, kedy má zobrať prázdne taniere a aký príbor priniesť. Dokonalý fine dining zážitok za primeranú cenu na Slovenské pomery. Ja som človek, ktorý do reštaurácie zájde raz za pár mesiacov a toto je servis, ktorý očakávam. Jedlo nemalo chybu - vyskúšala som jahňacie, srnčeka a teľacie. Tiež hrachovú polievku a hovädzí tatarák. Všetko malo vyváženú chuť, mäsko sa rozpadalo na jazyku. Oceňujem aj podávaný chlieb s maslom pri čakaní na jedlo - zasa raz niečo, čo je inde štandard a u nás mi chýbalo. Niekoľko mesiacov som premýšľala nad tým, či sem pôjdem - aj keď je to 20 minút od môjho domu :D Ale od teraz už návštevy a kamošov neberiem nikam inam. Teším sa na ďalšie kulinárske zážitky a posedenia pri vínku...aaa ešte musím spomenúť prostredie a celkovú atmosféru - nádherná záhrada s jazerom a vnútorné prostredie mlynu tiež krásne a k nemu sa hodila aj dobová hudba, ktorá tu hrala.
