Domačija Majer'ca — Restaurant in Bohinj

The resturant is a breath of fresh air in Bohinj. For many years Bohinj lacked a traditional resturant with normal prices and quality food/ingredients, this one captures those aspects perfectly. The mushroom soup was one of the best I've ever had, it was smooth and creamy with a nice touch of some herbs which made it absolutely scrumptious. The trout with cornmeal porridge was out of this world, I have never had such unique porridge, because it is usually bland, but here it was mouth watering and so was the sauce and the trout itself. The apple strudel was filled to the brim with apples and was also very good. The staff was very kind and the atmosphere relaxed, which made the whole experience even better. Great restaurant we kept coming back to while staying in the area – probably the best around the town and Lake Bohinj, maybe only matched by Foksner burger place closer to the lake. Both spots are really worth it and only about 5 minutes apart.

Very friendly service, and even when it was crowded they tried to find us a spot, especially on the terrace. Inside it’s cozy and wooden, with a fireplace – nicely balanced between modern and traditional. Outside there’s space for kids: a small playground, balls, mini goals for football, and even a badminton net.

Food is high quality, with both local specialties and more universal options. Good wine at very fair prices and solid craft beer. Definitely a place worth returning to. Parking is also easy here, plenty of...

No pa pejva probat!" sva rekla. Prvi vtis je izjemen, ambient, les, ki diši in privlači, svetloba. Dizajn narejen z občutkom domačnosti. Osebje prijazno, spoštljivo in sproščeno, ki z odnosom prinaša hrano na mizo. Zame je to zares pomembno. Ne maram biti ena izmed... všeč so mi lokali, kjer ti prinesejo hrano, kot da so jo pripravili posebej zate. To na Domačiji pri Majerci obvladajo in upam, da bo tako ostalo tudi v vrhuncu sezone. Za pozdravček sva dobila telečjo pašteto z domačim kruhom in tisti občutek, ko ti gre ugodje skozi telo se je začel. Goveja juha - po predpisih naših mam, ravno prav vsega in vonj po nedelji. (Kaj je vonj po nedelji razumejo samo Slovenci, haha).

Glavna jed narejena z občutkom, okusna, estetska... Prvi vtis je 100 od 100 in želim vam in nam, da tako ostane. Tudi to mi je bilo všeč, da je bila v ozadju z občutkom izbrana, kvalitetna slovenska glasba. Pozdravčke z Žlana "Well, let’s give it a try!" we said. The first impression was exceptional – the ambiance, the scent and allure of wood, the lighting. The design radiates a sense of home. The staff was friendly, respectful, and relaxed, bringing food to the table with care and presence. That really matters to me.

I don’t like feeling like just another guest… I love places where the food feels like it was made especially for you.

At Domačija pri Majerci, they’ve truly mastered that feeling – and I hope it stays that way even during peak season.

As a welcome treat, we were served veal pâté with homemade bread – and that warm, tingly comfort that flows through your body started right then. The beef soup – just like our moms would make it – perfectly balanced, and with that unmistakable Sunday aroma. (Only Slovenians understand the smell of Sunday, haha.)

The main course was prepared with care, full of flavor and beautifully presented… First impression? A solid 100 out of 100. I sincerely hope it stays that way.

Also, I really appreciated the background music – carefully selected, high-quality Slovenian music that added to the atmosphere. Greetings...
