vino@modana — Restaurant in Brda

Came here seeking a traditional home style meal and got an absolutely delicious dinner, with incredibly fresh seafood and rump cap steak, salad and vegetables. This place should have 5 stars across the board. The service was quality - friendly staff who care about your experience. We received nice chilled water on a hot day, clean plates between courses, lamps for when it got dark and they checked in on our needs regularly. Now to the wines - they had an incredible local range and offered great wines by the glass for a reasonable price. this was the most expensive pasta i’ve had in my life, and not nearly the best. (17€ for some truffles floating in oil - no sauce...) pasta frutti di mare was also lacking sauce. the cold fish starter was very good, but not enough to correct the impression the bill left. you also have to pay for a couvert (which is not at all standard in brda) and the muscato was disappointing, especially for the region. the very bland ambient was destroyed by about half an hour of extremely loud church ringing next door. you have to pay...

Vino @ Modano is a unique experience: located on the bucolic hills of Goriška Brda, on Slovenia's border with Italy, it offers a sensational wine list from the region's vineyards (which are not few!). Add to that a variety of drinks and seafood-based cuisine (also available from local fishmongers) and you'll have a great meal.
