Gostilna Krištof, Krištof Bolka s.p. — Restaurant in Kranj

Hey guys I would like to share with you my impression of an extraordinary night at the restaurant of Krištof. At first as we entered the restaurant I was bit confused because it felt to me as I entered some magical wine yard ,the atmosphere is relaxed and inviting.the sitting arrangement is just perfect if you come with family or group and want to have good unifying experience,you’ve got your privacy and it was really really nice. The menu was very understandable and written clearly in English as well. The menu is built precisely,so you can choose exactly what you prefer to eat, In other words the menu consists different course number and the price is respectively. I took the 4 course menu. I don’t how to describe the taste at my first bite of the food. It was like nothing else I ate in the past . Every dish was so unique and was being carefully made by the honored chef of the restaurant. The waiters were so kind and explained us about every dish and the idea behind of it. I wanted to visit this restaurant again since my dad took me there more than 10 years ago as what I got on the plate then was so memorable and it was no different this time. I had a clear tomato soup with pine nut filled dumplings and sea bass with smoked puree, truffles and bisque sauce. The soup was surprisingly full of flavour and the main course was just a tasteful combination of perfectly executed quality ingredients. They also served us with an entertaining starter and a tasteful desert and with that included I thought the prices were good for the level they provide.

The place is cozy inside and outside, tastefully lovely and traditional and Mr. Bolka's style with the customers is just like everything else - simple, elegant and smooth.

I also found it cool that they acknowledge veganism separately and are eco oriented in general without making too much fuss about it.

It's really cool to eat like this in such a homely environment. Would recommend it to a relaxed group of friends on a trip on one hand or for a high profile business lunch. Can't wait to try a full...

Very high end restaurant with several Michelin awards. We tasted 3 different dishes from which one was really good (veal dish) and the other was a bit Asian inspired recommendation from the staff - that was kind of just the average. The best dish was the desert, chocolate souffle that was perfect in consistency and taste. What I personally did not like is that the interior is not matching the level the restaurant is aiming for with the service and menu. The interior is kind of stuck in the 80is , so it is not very representative. I did not mind it, but for this style, I think a more traditional Slovenian cuisine would be a better fit. I would also not recommend this restaurant to visitors with children. There is really not much to choose from, even from the drinks. The bio grape wine was way too sour and also more of a thick smoothie than a refreshing drink.
