Prices have increased, while portion size, food quality and service have greatly diminished in the last couple of months.
As a long time patron, I have stopped visiting or ordering takeout/delivery from Stara Pravda completely, after a string of multiple disappointments and embarrassments, both when getting delivery or dining in.
In the summer time, they have no A/C inside, where it gets very very hot, and only a small number of tables outside which would offer some shade -- servers also avoid coming to the table to get additional orders for drinks when it gets that hot.
In the winter time, they do not serve outside, and inside the servers are completely lost -- they will share tables (no system) and will visit the table to get your order twice, but once your food is on the table, you can hardly get anyone's attention.
Paying the bill requires visiting the bar most of the time as well, since hailing the servers is often impossible.
A lot of the food that is on the menu is quite often unavailable once you enquire about it; there is always at least one cut of regular steak missing, while I have never been able to order wagyu or the T-bone in the 4 years I was there, even before, when the food and service were still acceptable for the price.
Risottos are not risottos, but are instead instant rice (often not drained enough) with a premade sauce, which is evident by complete lack of any infusion and integration. They used to, at least, let the two ingredients integrate on a saucepan before plating, but they don't do that anymore -- you will receive wet rice and sauce, presumably combined right there and then at plating.
Not even close to reasonably priced for what you get. Shambles,...
Read moreRevisited: this is becoming my new favorite restaurant in this town. Today we wisely ordered just one steak with Mediterranean vegetables and potato with cheese as "salad" and with 2 large beers it was still 20€ per person and we still could hardly drag our bellies out of there. Previous review: Before you come, make sure you bring some tupperware with you because even the smallest steak is still more than what an adult human needs for a whole day. I mean, the portions were HUGE. I suggest if you come in a pair, order just one main food and add some grilled vegetables to go with it otherwise you'll have a full stomach even the next day. Food is excellent. I didn't actually use a knife because the fork just fell through the tender meat. Hats off to the cook. But the quantity was just too much. The price was decent (38 € for 2 huge portions of ribs and 2 large lagers). Staff is young, helpful, polite, caring, very proffessional. The restaurant is on the edge of a canyon and wildlife is not something uncommon. So I wasn't surprised to see a mouse run across the yard. Nothing to go EEEK about, but I suggest the owners of this restaurant get a cat or two to keep wildlife away from guests. Not a * review, but overall the best restaurant in a 15 km circle. Oh, and one more thing: if you're in for traditional Slovenian food, forget it. This place is a 100% American bbq place. Except for the beer: they...
Read moreFor the appetizer I ate Gratinated Scallops and I must say it was perfectly made. Tha Scallops were very tasty and the presentation was great. For the main course I tried the Black Angus Rib eye. The waiter brought it to the table to show it, asked me how I wanted it to be prepared. It was prepared to perfection, delicious, presented amazingly and the taste was heavenly. The best meat I tasted in my life. At my table we also tried the Octopus from the oven and it was also super tasty. For the side dish we had the potatoes and the vegetables and everything was absolutely tasteful, especially the vegetables. They aslo serve daily fres soups and salads. For the desert we tried the Lava cake and the Creme brulee. They also serve an amazing selection of wines. My overall rate is 5+++ stars. The food is amazing, the service imeccable and the ambient very...
