Our Slovenian friends recommended we stay at Gostisce Pri Zerjavu whilst exploring the Julian Alps region, as they had previously stayed there on several occasions and always enjoyed the experience.||||Gostisce Pri Zerjavu is a family run business going back in excess of 100 years, offering historic guesthouse type accommodation and is ideally located in the small town of Ratece, being around a 10-minute drive from the township of Kranjska Gora.||||Upon our arrival, we were greeted by a wonderfully friendly and hospitable owner, who showed us to our room and immediately arranged for her husband to take our luggage up two flights of stairs.||||Our room was a loft suite with 2 bedrooms, large bathroom and a sitting room which was clean, spacious, adequately furnished and comfortable. The free Wi-Fi worked very well, in room coffee/tea making facilities were available and the beds were extremely comfortable. Additionally, the room also provided a lovely outlook towards the neighbouring snow-covered mountains.||||Furnishings within the common areas of the guesthouse were both tasteful and quaint and reflected the history associated with the business over a 100 plus year period. Adding to the theme, was the sound of tasteful Slovenian music playing throughout the course of the day.||||The guesthouse has its own restaurant (currently #1 restaurant in Ratece on TripAdvisor) and having arranged a half board package, can absolutely vouch for both the variety, quality and quantity of the food on offer (Note: Restaurant is not open on Mondays).||||Breakfast on offer was also good with yoghurts, fruit, and beautiful freshly cut bread provided each morning, with eggs, cold meats and cheeses available upon request.||||Parking was readily available either on the street at the front of the building or at the rear of the property.||||Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our 3-night stay which included half board at the excellent value of 35 euros per person per night and would certainly return when next in the area. ||||As a final point, if you want basic comfort, with a touch of history, excellent value for money, along with great meals, then Gostisce Pri Zerjavu is an ideal...

Read moreA Hidden Gem! Cozy vibe with AMAZING food and impeccable service 👌🏻 we were blown away! The steaks were cooked to a T. The soup and sides were delicious. Plentiful servings (we had to take the rest away - not leaving any of that treasure behind) all at very reasonable prices. Don't get me started on the desert.. Delicious Panna Cotta and Cream Cake all washed down with some generous glasses of delightful house wines and supreme affogatos. All to the backing of some classic 80's tunes....
