The meal was so good, we went back the next night; chef Uroš prepared a seven-course meal just for us so that we didn’t have to eat the same thing twice! I truly enjoyed my stay at DAM Boutique Hotel. I spent two days there during my visit to Slovenia, as we wanted to explore the wine region a bit. Despite doing very little planning, this turned out to be the highlight hotel of our entire vacation. It’s not surprising, as Chef Uroš Fakuč is both the owner and the creative force behind DAM. After running a restaurant for about 15 years, he decided five years ago to build a boutique hotel alongside it. As a small business owner myself, I could immediately recognize his unique taste and attention to detail in every corner of the property. I do appreciate the consistent luxury offered by big hotel chains (just the month before, I spent 10 days between the Ritz-Carlton Tokyo and Kyoto), but the personalized care and thoughtfulness that Uroš and his team provided at DAM truly stood out. And of course—the food is exceptional. It’s no wonder Chef Fakuč has maintained a Michelin star...
