My girlfriend and I are on vacation in Koper and stopped for dinner today at the Sonja Inn in Izola. We found a place at a table on the large terrace, which was covered with vines. We started by air-conditioning ourselves because it was incredibly hot.

We were given the menu and then ordered our drinks (500 ml of local wine and 1 liter of water). Less than 10 minutes later, the dishes we had ordered arrived at our table.

My girlfriend had “Homemade tagliatelle with prawns” and I had “Spaghetti with vongole mussels”.

Both dishes were very, very tasty. Both dishes had a rounded taste and were just as tasty. Simply melt in the mouth.

If you go to Izola, you should definitely go there. I would gladly give it more stars than 5, it was that good. The value for money would also be more than 5 stars.

We ate here yesterday and had a great meal. The staff were very nice and accommodating during our entire visit.

We started with the fish soup. Even though it was very inexpensive, it was a nice sized appetizer for two people. Then we got a meal for two with a grilled fish and swiss chard on the side. For dessert, we had the chocolate cake to share. It was so good that we decided to get a second dessert, this time the apple streudel. They were both good, but to be honest, we much preferred the chocolate cake! 😄

Nice exterior ambient, next to a road but it wasn't noisy (Saturday), the garden has a lovely shade. Nice menu design and cutlery matching the plates. Food was tasty. Prices reasonable.

Perhaps a tip for the chef - the dish (handmade pasta with octopus) might look better on a dark plate, or if it was served in dimmed light (to serve this dish only for dinner), or if the pasta was normal instead of added squid ink.
