If would be possible to give zero stars i would. I have never wrote a review but for this experience i did because it was the worst… waiters ripped me off and give me things I didn’t order. The thing is that i know all the people who work there including owner, so me and my friend came to eat something, so first they pour us champagne without asking (even though I don’t drink it) but i was like, okay, it is a friend gesture so i cant say no, then they brought big bottle of water which we also didn’t order, but i was like okay,it is impolite to say no. Then we ate our meal and after that one waiter came and asked us if we want dessert and i was like "thank you really much but not today" and then he kept asking us to take dessert and we were like no no we dont feel to eat that. so he still didnt stop and then he came up with a sentece " your friend waiter already did something for you, for surprise!" i was like o.O and i asked him 3 times if that is true and he said yes. so i said "if that is really true then i cant say no, it would be rude" and then we waited for 45 mins fpr dessert we didnt want and later i thanked to that waiter for dessert and she said she doesnt know anything about dessert, so litterally the first waiter (ginger) scammed us. and later in the end, they charged us non-ordered champagne, non-ordered water and non-ordered dessert. i was very dissapointed. also in the meantime i was observing the waiters and they did that to all costumers, when bottle pf water was empty on the table, they brought it without asking. eventhough that might be normal in other countires, it is not in ours especially when the local visit the restaurant… the worst...
Read moreA truly exceptional restaurant where every detail reflects a deep respect for place, season, and hospitality. The setting alone is remarkable — nestled alongside the serene river delta, with outdoor seating that allows diners to immerse themselves in the natural beauty of the landscape.
The experience is refreshingly unstructured: there is no fixed menu. Instead, the staff presents a curated selection of seasonal options, allowing guests to choose the number of courses and craft a meal that feels both personal and spontaneous. Each dish is a celebration of local ingredients, prepared with creativity, balance, and precision. Expect clean flavors, thoughtful textures, and just the right touch of innovation.
Service is warm, genuine, and engaging — a rarity even at this level. Staff remember returning guests and often share stories and context behind the food and wine, enriching the entire experience without ever overstepping.
The wine cellar is another highlight, focusing almost exclusively on carefully selected bottles from the nearby Vipava Valley. Pairings are suggested with care, elevating each course with intention.
This is not just a restaurant — it’s a quiet showcase of Slovenia’s culinary potential and a masterclass in how to create meaningful, memorable dining. Well worth...
Read moreWhat a lovely lovely restaurant. We arrived at the spur of the moment and the staff was so friendly and took us in and fed us so good! We had a pre-prepared 4 course meal which also took inconsideration our allergies. Everything was incredibly delicious, and the local wines were wonderfully paired with each course. We had two cold starters, a soup and a main course. Unfortunately, we were too stuffed for a dessert! We first received a greeting from the chef which was his variation of a beef soup and a foamed butter with mustard seed. The starters were a marinated trout (on a bed of red cabbage) and a beef tongue with pumpkin foam. The warm starter was a cauliflower soup with fresh cauliflower and was amazing. As a main course we got a tender piece of Angus beef. No space for a desert!
But of course they have a lovely selection of local wines and spirits - as well as international ones. Do ask for a Shamar (a slap) - the schnapps that caresses.
Have to come here again! Note to self: remember to...
