I had the pleasure of dining at Gostilna Krhne, and I can confidently say it was one of the best culinary experiences I've ever had. From the moment I stepped inside, Erik’s warm personality created a cozy atmosphere, instantly making me feel at home. The personal and friendly service made the experience even more special. The menu is a perfect blend of traditional Slovenian cuisine with a modern twist. Erik offered me his personal menu and some of the incredible local dishes, like the wild boar, left a lasting impression! Since I mentioned my love for truffles, Erik even added truffle to this dish, which elevated it to a whole new level. Rich, earthy and perfectly paired. Everything was beautifully prepared with so much care and attention to detail. And trust me, the homemade truffle pasta was simply divine! What truly sets Gostilna Krhne apart, though, is the personal touch. Erik is so passionate about what he does. His food and wine pairing recommendations were spot on and he took the time to ensure I had an unforgettable experience. You can feel his love for both the food and the region in everything he does. I highly recommend opting for the personal menu if you want to explore the best of what this place has to offer. It was an incredible journey through the flavors of Vipava. Honestly, it felt like dining at a Michelin-star restaurant, but with the warmth and charm of a family-run establishment. Erik knows the local wines and dishes inside out, and his suggestions really elevated the experience for me. Overall, dining at Gostilna Krhne was so much more than just a meal. It was a true immersion into Erik's heart and passion for Slovenian culture and cuisine....
Read moreWe had been looking for something to eat for our first night in Slovenia during our honeymoon, and after stopping at 2 restaurants that ended up being closed we wound up walking around this area. Mark was outside just saying a friendly hello and after we asked if there was a restaurant he recommended he ended his break early and invited us inside. We took his recommendations of a dried meat and cheese board and their bacon and mushroom pasta which were both out of this world delicious! The kitchen also sent out a complimentary Pozdrav Kuhinje which is a small but extremely flavorful bite of a bread, cheese, pistachio, and red wine fig jam like nothing we've ever had. The entire meal and restaurant felt very classy which honestly had us worried about the price because we never looked at a menu, but to our surprise the bill came out to be very budget friendly! I can't say enough how pleased we were with both the meal and Mark and staff's service and friendliness. We will absolutely be stopping here one more time...
Read moreSurrealist restaurant: We didn’t have access to the menu (or the prices) at the entrance, nor when we were seated. It was impossible to check the ingredients of the dishes, possible allergens, or verify whether my wife, who was pregnant, could eat everything. Apparently, this was because we had a tasting menu with four starters and a main course. The four starters were extremely small portions. After almost three hours, we had only finished the fourth starter. We were still hungry, but decided to leave without the main course. Dessert? Sorry, they didn’t have any. And of course, they couldn’t provide us with a detailed bill at the end. Instead, the total—without any breakdown—was €64 for four mini starters for me and three for my wife, naturally without wine (pregnancy obliged). Fortunately, I had a yogurt in the minibar of my hotel room, which I ate when we arrived back. I will...
