The Proprietor Mr Osman (‘Hashim’ to his friendly patrons) is invariably in attendance to attend to one’s order in the minutest detail. One can phone book, if in a hurry, but the Fisherman is normally very quick to prepare on arrival.
During such short waits one can discuss when, where and what price/s Hashim obtains his raw materials, such as potatoes (only the best of the market’s fresh ‘Mondial’) for production of his incomparable ‘slap’ chips. Also during short waits one can catch up on the cultural news of the neighbourhood by reading his ‘news wall’ (actual newspaper cut outs). Alternatively outdoor seating is invariably available.
I have to say that I have enjoyed some the best hake & chips ever (one of my favourite go-to dishes) at this delightfully unpretentious establishment. And I have been a Friendly Fisherman patron for some years.
And if perchance a mistake is made, such as during peak attendance, whoever is at fault, he will smilingly rectify without a trace of negativity, leaving one feeling at peace with the state of that old style humanity which still serves with pride, dignity and a good dollop of wry humour.

All the occasions I frequented, I have always had a great experience here, prices are not bad, good service , fresh food and the wait is not too long, but some weekends gets a bit hectic busy.
Housed on an old residential property, expertly converted into a business, on the corner of Kendall road, next to Cristy's Tent and Canvass, the one level mini mall has a Mica Hardware, Chemist and a well known restuarant.
