K1 Sushi — Restaurant in Plumstead

I have no idea what the hype is about this place. I popped in at 6pm on a weekday to an empty restaurant. I was told 20 minute wait. No problem, I'll go do some shopping. Came back at 6:20pm and waited a further 10 minutes. No problem, the restaurant had filled up by this point. The atmosphere of the full restaurant was rather sad though, nobody seemed to be enjoying themselves. People seemed to be waiting awhile for drinks, food and service and I saw a few people sitting who had to flag down a waitress.

Definitely not reflective of the reviews I had read prior to coming in. I am also very disappointed that I did not receive any wasabi or ginger with my sushi and no sweet & sour sauce with my sweet & sour chicken. The sushi was not the worst sushi I've ever had, but also not 5-star worthy. The chicken was delicious, it's just a shame the lack of sauce meant I could not fully enjoy the meal. I am absolutely hooked on this spot! Their prawn spring rolls are truly divine. Their beef chow mein is loaded with tender beef, and the portion size always leaves you with leftovers. The spicy green curry instantly warms you up on a cold winter evening. And if you're a sushi lover, the salmon handrolls are simply perfection. The prices are also incredibly reasonable, with the bonus of a buy-one-get-one-free offer on sushi. The food is exceptional - fresh, delicious and beautiful to look at.
