The Roadside Diner is a MUST STOP! (We’ve been there before). Absolutely stunning Vintage / Paris décor. A family-owned business for years! (They only have accommodation at the back – Loch Athlone accommodation). They support local businesses with the most divine products!! Lovely mugs, ‘granadilla pearls’ for your tea or cold drinks, yellow fat biltong, sweets, jams, chilli sauces and the MOST INTRIGUING FLAVORED RUSKS!!! Candy floss rusks, Rum & Raisin rusks (we’ve bought this (R60) and divine!), Peppermint crisp rusks, Strawberry pops rusks, Caramel popcorn rusks, Bourbon butterscotch rusks, Tiramisu rusks, Smarties rusks, Berry splash rusks, Lemon cake rusks, Hertzoggies rusks, Orange & choc rusks, Hazelnut coffee rusks, Ginger delight rusks, Cream soda rusks and more … What I absolutely love about the rusks … they packaged 6 rusks, but not 6 together – 2 in a smaller package. Brunch for me was Canadian Poutine (chips smothered in gravy and 3 cheeses) and Hein had the Roadside breakfast (eggs, bacon, toast,...
Read moreHi I've been visiting and staying at Loch Athlone for the past 6 years, and it's been incredible to watch how they’ve grown over time. With new fresh ideas constantly emerging, each visit feels exciting and unique. The atmosphere is always amazing!
Whether it’s the middle of winter or a hot summer day, they know how to satisfy your cravings — from a glass of smooth red wine, hearty warm meals, and a cozy fireplace, to the best milkshakes and refreshing cold drinks. Their breakfast and lunch options are always a treat, and now they’re open on Wednesday evenings too — the food is absolutely delicious!
If I were you, I’d pop in soon and try something new and freshly made. If you not satisfied speak up they will sort you out...give your feedback there and then if unsatisfied, they would rather let you walk away happy than unsatisfied. They always opened for feedback and where they can better themselves as restaurant and overnight stay...
Read moreWhat a beautiful experience and journey. I'm a firm beleiver that food is a journey, especially when it's made with passion. What compliments that journey is the service as they go hand in hand. I was absolutely amazed at the beautiful journey i had the priveledge of experiencing. The eggs benedict with hollandaise on ciabatta was the best i have ever experienced in the world. The balance of the hollandaise sauce was perfect and the poached eggs were perfect. Knowing that the Chef personally makes the sauce from scratch the traditional authentic way aswell as the poached eggs, is not a very common practice in todays world. The presentation was 5 out of 5. This family run establishment is worthy of michelin grading! Again, thank you for a beautiful experience and adding to my journey! We will be back neighbour's!
Ps, unfortunatly i do not have photos of the food i had because i finished it before...
