Came here for lunch and was well served by a helpful and smiley waiter named Simon. He went the extra mile to check everything was in order and that we were satisfied. They put in an effort too to make my Dads birthday special and one to remember.

The food was absolutely delightful, I had the build your own sandwich (named the sandwich boss), which is fantastic, especially if you're picky about what you eat. The pizza was also lovely, with a thin base and a variety of options for toppings, also good for picky eaters (or younger children) My father was very impressed with the fish of the day, well cooked with a nice combination of vegetables with the fish and was overall a wonderfully tasty dish. The food was beautifully presented on the plate and the wait to be served was not long at all, especially when busy. The pizza and bread had gluten free options too for an affordable price. Their menu has options for everyone, while not being so extensive as to overwhelm you with choices.

They have a variety of drinks, including wines from their vineyard, cold drinks, coffees and other alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. It's good to note they do not usually allow you to bring your own wine, but there are plenty of great wines to choose from on their list. They have a few options for freshly pressed juices too. (I also loved that they used biodegradable straws!)

There was beautiful scenery and although hot, sitting outside was comfortable and shaded.

My order (build your own sandwich/sandwich boss) was ciabatta with white cheddar, basil pesto, avocado and chicken which I definitely recommend. It came to R124. I also had the orange, ginger and carrot juice which I enjoyed very much.

Overall definitely a 5 star experience and definitely recommend for a light to...

The Lust Bistro at Vrede en Lust is well worth a visit. My wife and I had a busy morning in Cape Town with no time to eat before setting off to Franschhoek to celebrate our anniversary. We decided to pop in and sample the deli menu on route. Allowing us time to disengage from the pressures of our daily hustle and delight in the tranquility of the Winelands. Worth mentioning, we had visited the inviting bakery table in the past, but this was our chance to dine, and we were expectant.

We were welcomed by friendly staff (a wonderful example of South African hospitality), into an earthy oasis of hardwoods and modern finishes, complete with a roaring fire, think ‘modern farmhouse’ affair. The menu was scrumptious, with a variety of options to satisfy most appetites, from breakfasts to burgers, tapas to à la carte, including a kiddies menu and pizza.

Our interest was in the daily blackboard tapas specials that are great for sharing, where we opted for Pancetta Wrapped Prawns on rocket with an aioli of sorts, and finely chopped Mushrooms on Puff pastry with Parmesan. Both were mouth watering, bursting with flavour, we opted for a bottle of 2021 Vrede en Lust, White Mischief (Elgin white blend), that paired beautifully with both of these light meals. The wine worked so well, I popped over to the winery to grab a few bottles, and noticed they have a lovely tapas & wine pairing menu, triggering another visit into the tasting room, that never fails, especially in summer!

I am so looking forward to our next visit indeed, to both deli and...

What a pleasant outing at Vrede en Lust Bistro today, the food was exactly what one would expect for the price; nothing super fancy but absolutely worth every penny… and that’s not just the mimosas talking

When my burger arrived it wasn’t quite what I expected, but I figured I maybe misread the menu so I didn’t say anything to our amazing waitress Lucky. After I had just about finished my burger Lucky came to me and said, without being prompted at all, that there had been a mistake with my burger and it wasn’t what I ordered and they would like to give me what I ordered as a takeaway.

We mentioned we would be sharing cheesecake (which was also great) and they split it for us and plated the half portions for us also without asking

When we paid the bill we decided to tip our amazing waitress with cash and paid the bill with Zapper. As we were getting up a different staff member came up to us and tactfully asked if we were happy with our service as there was no tip.

We mentioned that we’d tipped cash and she stated that it’s not about the money at all, she just wanted to make sure we were happy and everything was ok

The place wasn’t too busy considering the time of the year and I totally recommend it as a beautiful but relaxed...

We had a great breakfast here on Saturday morning. Even though there were a huge CANCA event they were able to seat us and provide exceptional service. The coffee is great and we opted for the eggs Benedict which was really good. Restroom convenience 5/5 Restroom cleanliness 5/5
