3/5 - VERY busy which results in delays and not getting order timeously. Food OK
So wife and I were planning on having sushi however when we past Barn & Barrel we saw one of the patrons eating what looked like an appetizing Fully Loaded Chips - this was the deciding factor to give it a try.
When we arrived place was not so busy, waiter took our drink order and then recommended that we try the Focaccia (with onions and feta). We enjoy it when recommendations are made, so agreed.
For mains I ordered the Nachos and wife ordered the Fully Loaded Fries with Bacon.
The Focaccia arrived and you can see by size of the fork in the picture that it is about 30cm x 30cm in size. It was good and the garlic and chilli added to the flavor.
The mains arrived. My Nachos and wife's Fully Loaded Fries were both OK - nothing spectacular just OK.
What got to me however was when I asked for the bill (after we had our meal) only then did the waiter realise that he hadn't brought me my milkshake and hastily brought it thru.
Maybe another time when they not so busy it might...
Read moreHad a VERY bad experience there 2 weeks ago. Arrived with my family at about 18:30pm. Place not very busy. We were shown to our table , given menus and were then ignored for 15 minutes, as patrons entering after us were seated, drinks irders taken and delivered, all the while just totally ignoring us. Several efforts to catch the waiter and hostess' attention fell on deaf ears and blind eyes. Manager nowhere to be seen! After 15 minutes, we got up to leave and I approached the manager, who then appeared after rising from his spot at the bar, with a drink. I explained my disappointment and after pointing out who the guilty parties were, left to take our bussiness next door at Toro, where we spent around R1200. They were very busy, but invited us in and were wonderful. I can see why they were busy. Won't be going back to Barn and...
Read moreWe were quite disappointed this time. We arrived during load shedding and asked the waitron if they were still serving breakfast, under the circumstances, to which he replied yes. When ordering our usual R30 special (eggs, toast, bacon, chips incl. coffee/tea) he warned that they could not serve hot drinks and offered a soft drink instead. We reluctantly decided to proceed. A while later, after overhearing another waitron informing a nearby table that toast was now also off the menu, we decided to cancel the order and leave. We still had to pay for the softdrinks at R20 a pop.... My main complaint is that he should have been honest when we asked if the usual breakfast was still on offer.... Eggs without toast or coffee is not great and comping the soft drinks at that stage would not have hurt under the...
