We were on Holiday for the festive, not familiar with PE so on Christmas we searched the net for best restaurants & Bonamia was on the list.We checked the menu &loved it, checked the reviews & they were also not bad.We drove about 30ks to have lunch there. On arrival we were told they are only serving a set 3 course Christmas lunch menu, fine with us.We had 2 kids, waitress was kind enough to make an exception & allow us to order for them from the normal menu.We ordered burger & chips for my daughter & fish fingers & chips for my son. When the waitress brought the order, she brought chicken strips instead of the burger, told her it's not what we ordered, said she remembers we ordered burger so it must be the kitchen staff mistake, she quickly took it back but came again, said it's actually her mistake so we must take it anyway. We didn't want to put her in trouble or cause a scene & agreed to pay for it & told her to bring the burger that my daughter wanted in the 1st place &pack the strips in a takeaway pack but we really didn't like the way she handled it, everyone makes mistakes but it's how you fix them that matters especially if it's something that will cost extra money to rectify.Me &my husband had our starters from the set Christmas menu & we enjoyed them &looked forward to delicious mains also.Oh boy, were we disappointed 👎🏽👎🏽.It just didn't match with the pricing. Didn't expect to be served parboiled rice on that menu price, beef was so plain & inedible,no flavours/seasoning at all.We only ate gammon,it was really nice though the portions were very small, they filled the plate with very big portions of inedible beef.It was as if they wanted to get rid of it🤦🏽♀️.The whole experience ruined our day,we regretted driving all the way hoping we were gonna have a nice Christmas lunch. In future when you set up a menu for special occasions like Christmas, please make sure that the standard of food also matches with the pricing otherwise just stick to your...
Read moreA group of friends (5) met yesterday the 21st April 2021 at Bonamia Restaurant at 3:30pm. We ordered drinks and food. At 6:45pm our waiter asked us if we wanted our bill and we said that she could bring it. While working out each ones contribution and a 15% tip we noticed that the waitress put up a reserved sign on our table and did not explain the reason for this. We carried on chatting away and she retuned with the swipe machine - we all made our individual payments and she left. Myself and a friend was still busy with our drinks when the Manager arrived and asked us to vacate the table. He said that someone had booked this specific table for 7pm. I was very surprised and even said to him are you asking us to leave and then he said I can put 2 tables together and you can move to it. We were so disappointed and disgusted at the Manager request that we decided to leave. We stood outside the restaurant at the entrance until 8:30pm and saw that no party had arrived for the 'so-called' reserved table. We were planning on still having coffee and dessert but our get together was rudely interrupted. We get together once a month and this is the first time that we were asked to leave a restaurant due to a specific table being reserved which I find ridiculous. This incident has left a very bad taste in our mouths and obviously we will not be coming back to this type of...
Read moreWas contemplating whether I should post this or not because I don't think it's going to make a difference but regardless, Friday was my parents 38th anniversary and we decided to go to Bonamia for supper. I always say with Bonamia it's luck of the draw sometimes the food is amazing and sometimes you just wish you'd stayed home and cooked. This however was neither of those because poor Warren Botha got served a rotten TBone for supper. Guys I don't mean " this smells like it could be off" I'm talking, you didn't need to bring it up to yr nose to smell how rotten it was. Then the waitress called the manager who couldn't have cared less. She then proceeded to say "she can smell its off but the cook says she smelled it before she cooked it and it smelled fine. The kicker for me was that no real apology was given and when I asked to speak to the owner I was told " They know about it and said to remove the TBone off the bill. Like I'm so appreciative that you didn't charge me for the ROTTEN FOOD you served us. All in all the owners attitude sucked and we will never be there again. Not...
