Golden Nugget Spur — Restaurant in Free State

Spur is our go to as a family for many years and we have wonderful family memories. For mother's day we unfortunatly had not a very good experience and I would like to share with the hope that it might be something that can change. In my occupation I'm a manger myself and I understand the pressure of working with staff and keeping public happy at the same time and things must go as smooth and excellent as possible. Since mother's day was busy I understand you want to get food out as quickly as possible and 100% quality but the manager who is standing at the grill is screaming so loud to call the food on and off and getting the waiters to collect that it felt as if we are at an auction and with times I could not even hear the conversation around our table, and no we weren't sitting next to the grill, he was just screaming so loud. At 2 occations staff was placing people at tables that was resereved and a manager will fight with the waiter, talking really bad to them. One was even pointing the waitress in her face. This happended right infront of our table. Really people. Please take your staff aside and sort it out. Our family came to spoil my mom for the special day, but it ended up us just rushing to finish our food and leave. Our waitress was a darling and her service excellent and the food amazing. I'm asking to just be mindful about certain things. Yes you want things to happen correctly and quickly to serve as much people as possible but rember we still want to enjoy...

Golden Nugget Spur has always been my go-to breakfast spot during our family road trips to the coast. The prices are reasonable, and the food is consistently tasty and fresh—especially the coffee, which is always a highlight!

I’ve only visited this branch between 8 AM and 10 AM, right after opening, before it gets too busy. While the restaurant is generally quiet at that time, I’ve noticed that the wait time for both the food and the bill tends to be longer than expected. This minor inconvenience is the only reason I’ve held back from giving a full 5-star rating.

That said, the staff more than make up for it with their friendliness and helpfulness. The bathrooms are always neat and clean, the indoor play area offers ample activities for kids, and the surroundings are beautiful, creating a pleasant atmosphere.

A special mention goes to Abigail, who went above and beyond by making my son’s experience truly memorable. She happily played PlayStation with him during our visit, and he left beaming, thrilled to have made a new friend.

I had a mostly positive experience at Golden Nugget Spur Steak Ranch. The staff were fantastic! Our waiter, in particular, was very friendly and provided excellent service.
