We were at your bar yesterday for the first time - what a nice little place. The staff is super friendly - we had a few drinks and then we needed food.. I must say your food is awful. We ordered ConCarne Nachos - I think there were 15 chippies on the plate and 7 beans 🫘 a few crumbs of mince it was dry and awful at a super ridiculous price of R140.00 - shame on you. We also ordered the stuffed jalapeños at the winning price of R90 - the waiter brought them to us - telling us it was the chef's special today - we said oooo wow and what's that - he replied by saying that these poppers are normally wrapped in bacon- why would the chef special be falling off crumbs?? And not the bacon - did you not have bacon?
We complained cause the food was such a disappointment- got 2 tequilas cause your system can reverse the food. We paid and left. Went to our local bar and ate the most gorgeous food and then an overflowing colorful plate of Nachos came past us - called our waitress and asked her just for curiosity what a plate of ConCarne Nachos would cost - she replied R128! - feeding at least 2 people and making them feel extremely happy and not ripped off!
I know that we won't rush back- I read through the reviews and it seems people have been complaining about the food for a very long time - your food is not good at all...
Read moreWe were keen to give the Barrel a try so we met up with some friends for a pub lunch. After having a drink we attempted to order some food. We were informed that all they could offer was chicken strips and chips as they were out of stock of everything. With no options we ordered and the most disgusting meal ever landed in front of us. For the time we were there we got offered more drinks only once. I can usually excuse this if the place was packed, but the 3 groups of people in the place was hardly enough to keep the 3 wait staff busy. As a matter of fact the 3 was constantly standing around chatting actively avoiding the gaze of customers. After we finished our meal a bakkie laden with raw food arrived and started offloading. So at least there will be food for a dinner rush, that being said raw meat on the back of an open bakkie on a rather hot sunny day I pity anyone brave enough to eat here....

The bar tender was incredibly rude (tall dark skinned African man). He got attitude with me when I hesitated with my drink order then proceed to serve some else whilst I was waiting for the card machine. He is uninviting and incredibly blunt, and proceeded to act out of spite and take his dear time to get the card machine. Terrible bartender.
