AVOID BURGER KING RAVENSWOOD LIKE E-COLI I had the extreme displeasure of dining in at the Burger King outlet located in Ravenswood, Boksburg last Wednesday. Not only has the ice cream machine been out of order for months now, but the cold drinks dispenser has constant operational issues, and to top it all, there is only one single toilet cubicle for use by staff and customers- male, female and disabled too. To make matters worse, this single cubicle has a toilet with a latched lid which must be opened and closed by hand before the toilet automatically flushes 😳. There is also a sign which informs that the latch on the seat kills most germs 😂. I assert that even 1% of ecoli on that latch is enough to make many people ill especially if the staff preparing and handling our food had to not wash their hands, which given the fact that there is only the one operating cubicle in the outlet, is probable in the extreme. Further, the lack of maintenance on the cold drink didpenser, makes one wonder whether the dispenser is properly or ever sanitized.
Now as it so happens, I did suffer diarrhea for 24 hours straight after consuming a whopper meal there on 04 October 2023, although I cannot say for certain that this meal was the cause of it.
I complained about the the issues I have raised herein to Burger King's customer care number in Cape Town, but instead of focusing on the complaints, they were more interested in what I had eaten in the preceeding 48 hours and the laboratory results of my stool samples, that too after I had stated in writing that I had no interest in suing them, and only wanted for them to attend to the many things not working in the outlet.
Today, 09 November 2023, someone from the Ravenswood store called me and I reiterated my complaints. The staff member explained that an icecream machine had to manufactured for the outlet from scratch since there were none available for purchase anywhere, and also that they were in the process of removing the automatically flushing toilet and replacing it with a "regular" toilet. She offered no explanation as to why only one single toilet cubicle was operational or provided any dates for replacement of the ice cream machine or toilet replacement. She did not make any enquiry whatsoever as to the state of my health or whether I had recovered from my diarrhea. After I stressed the importance of Burger King attending to my concerns, the staff member undertook to escalate the same to their CEO and revert to me the same day. Unsurprisingly that never happened, despite threatening to post a review on this platform.
It is obvious to me that Burger King cares more about profits than customer service, so I have decided to take my patronage back to McDonalds, from where I had moved my patronage to Burger King because I honestly believed that the Whopper was superior to the Big Mac or any other of McD's offerings. Little did I realise at that time that McDonalds fanatic attention to hygiene and high standards far exceed anything Burger King can offer. I would rather have an inferior burger rather than get ill from another. I shall henceforth take my patronage back...
Read moreI went to the inside order station as the drive through was blocked at 12. 20 today. I waited a while for service from the 5 ladies working behind the counter, but they simply ignored me, and helped the take a lot drivers aĺl the time. Then I asked if the drive through is operating and they replied I must just drive around. When I wanted to order at the drive thru, I noticed it was the same lady who told me the drive thru was operating. Now she told me to go and order inside again. When I asked why, she simply said yes. She also refused to tell me who I can complain to. This was the worst service I had at a Burger King !

Upon arrival we went through the drive through and waited over an hour for the 2 cars in front of us to be served.
Upon reaching the pay window I asked for the cashier to confirm my order and she had gotten it wrong so I corrected her and the correct order was placed.
Upon trying to pay the card machine kept declining my card I even checked my account to verify I had funds and to check if the limit or anything had changed. I was met with the cashier saying " I don't know " I asked if she had a different card machine to which I was met with a "I don't know" I asked if she could restart the card machine to which I got the answer "I don't know"
We then cancelled out order and drove off we stopped at a different fast food restaurant and bam the card was accepted payment was made and my family had a delicious meal.
