Del Forno Groenkloof — Restaurant in Gauteng

I came in from neighbouring Sorbet after such a good massage and hoped for a great meal after. I ordered the steak and chips on promo and, to start with, the order literally took 30 minutes to make. During the order, I had to ask the waiter how far the food was. Alas, my order came and the steak was so disappointingly dry. It’s a rump so there isn’t too much fat to rely on so you’d imagine they’d sauce it up well. I asked for medium to well and I might as well have asked for well done coz that’s how it came. Over and above, not one time did the wait staff check up on me, if I was okay or needed anything. I’d have ordered a mushroom sauce or something to ease the dryness. After my meal, I pushed the plate aside and, I timed it, it took them 4 minutes to collect the plate. My whole mood is spoiled. Wow! I don’t normally review places but hands down they deserve to be reviewed.

We’ve been to so many fancy restaurants all over and nothing compares to Del Fornos in Groenkloof.

I’m extremely picky when it comes to pizza and schnitzels and this was probably the best I’ve had in a long time. The menu offers a wide variety of delicious and mouthwatering starters and main courses that will appeal to youngsters and adults alike.

Most of us had the Schnitzel Primavera and pizzas and as a family we all shared our food. All was exquisite, everything we ate was fresh and delicious with the highest quality ingredients to produce dishes that are simply delightful.

The service was outstanding, the owners are hands-on, warm and thoughtful. They authentically engaged us, the staff was extremely friendly and the atmosphere is brilliant.

Definitely not in the same league than others in this group. I always know that when I go to Del Forno, it will be a good experience and most certainly the amount of money spent. Unfortunately this branch has neither good service and the owner seems more interested in sitting doing admin in a corner than interacting with his customers. In all the times I have been here he has not bothered to come ask how things were or even introduced himself. He just does not seem to care and neither do the staff. Food is not bad but the rump had way too much fat on it and the pepper sauce was like water, thin instead of thick, the way other sauces normally are at Del Forno. I will probably not come back to this branch again, there are others which are far more welcoming and at least I have some interaction with the owner instead of being ignored by an old dude sitting...
