To whom it may concern,
We would like to bring to your attention the terrible food we received at the Irene Doppio Zero restaurant.
Ordered a focaccia, the ‘new’ one, basic.. fried baby marrow, garlic and pecorino cheese, it arrived with thick baby marrow, and no cheese.. I politely said to the waiter as she was putting it in front of me.. that this is not what was ordered it’s missing the cheese.. she went back to the pizza section and they just put cheese on top (I could have done this at the table) she brought the same pizza back that with the unmelted cheese, I fried raw baby marrow. I politely said that I’ve had this plenty times before at other doppio locations and the cheese is melted.. the took it back and made a new one.. while the rest of the family enjoy their meals. When it arrived it was really disappointing! No flavor, no taste…
There were 2 Cesar salads ordered which they felt was very oily instead of a cedar salad being more creamy.
The pork belly, crackling was inedible extremely hard, tasteless and resembles a stale chip.
We celebrated a wedding anniversary of our parents are were highly let down! With more than a R2.5k bill for 6 people this is a big let down.
Recommendation would be for the chefs and kitchen staff to receive training from the other branches which food is not even comparable and not at all confidant with the doppio menu. (Had a lovely meal, same focaccia, calamari, pizza, handhelds, at Castle gate...

We recently had our year-end lunch at Doppio Zero, and it was nothing short of amazing! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm hospitality and an inviting atmosphere that set the tone for a fantastic celebration.
The ambiance was vibrant yet relaxed, making it the ideal setting for a group gathering. The staff went above and beyond to ensure our experience was seamless. They were attentive, friendly, and incredibly accommodating, even with our special requests.
The food was absolutely outstanding! From fresh, flavorful starters to perfectly cooked mains and indulgent desserts, every dish was a delight. The variety on the menu catered to all dietary preferences, and everyone in our group found something they loved. The presentation was beautiful, and you could taste the quality in every bite.
What truly stood out was the little touches—attentive service, beautifully plated dishes, and a genuine effort to make our event feel special. The team at Doppio Zero made sure we left with smiles on our faces and wonderful memories of a great meal shared with colleagues.
If you’re looking for a venue to host a celebration or simply enjoy a meal with family and friends, I can’t recommend Doppio Zero highly enough. We’ll...
Read moreI arrived at around 07:30 in the morning, and they wanted to seat 6 people on a 4 seater table, yet there were a lot of other spaces. After discussing it with the person assisting me, we moved a couple of tables together for the reservation. This was still fine.
Sitting at the table having a look around me, I saw on the ground pieces of glass, not just my tables, but right across the entire bench. I also noticed something dead the ants were having a go at, and a dead bird. The aircon above us kept on dripping on my fellow friends head. At first it was funny, after an hour it wasn't anymore. The floor clearly hasn't been swept and washing the floor is also not an option.
On the menu they have herbal teas, when I enquired about this, they only had Five Roses normal tea, or chamomile. Now listing only chamomile under 'Herbal Teas' is exaggerating a bit. So my tea comes in and the cup has a circle base, but the saucer has a square space of equal size. No need to tell you this didn't fit, but clearly exceptional attention has been giving to every little detail.
Fast forward we get the food. Nothing wrong with it, it wasn't bad, but not great either.
To conclude, it is expensive for little, and with these price tags I was expecting a clean place, with crockery that...
