iL Gusto Ristorante — Restaurant in Gauteng

Not having been to this restaurant for some time, and with the last experience being exceptional, I booked a year end lunch for my team at iL Gusto. On arrival we were kindly greeted and led to our table - service overall was average. There was an extremely strong smell of pine gel cleaner in the air, which was very unpleasant throughout our dining experience. My team chose between pasta and steak. I ordered the fillet steak (requested medium) with 3 prawns. My food came warm and the three little prawns were dried out with no taste. My 200g steak was well done instead of medium and as a result dry. The monkey gland sauce had an extremely strong vinegar taste. I had the creme brûlée for dessert, which had curdled and the sugar topping was nearly 5mm thick, and not melted through, it was to say the least horrible. I was so embarrassed for taking my team to this establishment for our end of year lunch, which previously had many accolades. My team’s meals were ok, the fillet on the bone was so small, and only served with spaghetti, no veg… I think my team were just being polite and did want not complain, and neither did I as it would dampen our spirits. It was our last time that we are going to eat at Il Gusto. It WAS our favorite restaurant. I made a reservation for outside near Stears entrance as ALWAYS because my dog can sit there with us. When we arrived there our table was taken. I ask the manager why our table was not ready. And I called the owner She told me the customers was there from 12;00 and she couldn't ask them to leave. The Manager told me they made the reservation before us. I told him he is lying because the owner just told me different. We had a lady off 80 years with us and we sit in the sun and near the entrance off Wilde Bees. It was so hot and extremely noisely. The owner come to move us away from the sun and then our elderly guest must stand up again with her crutches.....it was so imbarrising for us because it was her firts time there.And the whole time the owner was chatting with the people who was at our table. She was once at our table. Clearly it was her friends or more important customers than us. We where eating there frequently. We planned to held our birthday party there but clearly our reservation wasn't important enough so we going to...

It was our favorite place in the whole of Boksburg....but after tonight I will not go there again. We made a reservation yesterday already for 6 o clock tonight Sitting outside. When we came there, there was someone els sitting at our table. First the owner said the people sat there from 12 o clock this afternoon....but I think she could have told them before hand that, that table was reserved....she did not....and then the manager lied not hearing she already told us....he said they reserved the table before us.....then they put us in a corner next to the club upstairs doore....people smoking next to us and the sun belting on us. This is so disappointing.....why do you reserve a table and we had a 80 year old lady with us wich had to wait for them to get a table for us. We supported them during covid when no one wanted to eat out.......but this was...
