Concerning Experience with Soundbox Entertainment for Event at News Cafe Boksburg

I was hired as a DJ by Soundbox Entertainment, representing News Cafe Boksburg for an event on 16 December 2023. I was booked for a 3 hour set from 10pm to 1am. Unfortunately, my experience with the company and its owner, Lesedi, has been extremely disappointing.

Despite assurances of prompt payment, it's been over 11 days since the event, and I have yet to receive compensation for my services.

Because Lesedi had called me 20 minutes before he expected me at the venue, he promised payment the very next morning (17 December 2023). Lesedi failed to honour the promised payment the following morning and reiterated this commitment on multiple occasions (Thursday 21 December and Friday 22 December), but these promises were never fulfilled.

Furthermore, communication with Lesedi has been severely lacking. He has consistently failed to respond to my messages and phone calls, leaving me in the dark about my payment status.

As a hired professional, timely payment is not just a matter of compensation but respect for services rendered.

It's disappointing that despite Lesedi's claims of delayed payments from News Cafe causing the delay, there has been no effort to keep me informed or to rectify the situation.

I would like to resolve this matter as promptly as possible. I cannot get a hold of Lesedi via phone call or direct message and would like a direct payment from News...

Absolutely Appalling Service 👏👏👏

I have never experienced such atrocious service in my life. From the moment we walked in, it was clear this place doesn’t care about its customers. The lady at the door barely acknowledged us, telling us to “find a seat” with zero effort to make us feel welcome or comfortable.

We sat ourselves and waited. After a few minutes, a waitress silently dumped menus on the table and walked away without a word. Meanwhile, another waitress was busy catering to a couple seated behind us, taking their drink order and strolling up and down past us without so much as a glance in our direction.

We sat there for 15 minutes—15 minutes—without anyone even acknowledging us. No drinks, no service, nothing. At that point, we’d had enough and got up to leave. On the way out, we passed two waitresses standing by the door, chatting and completely ignoring us, not even flinching as we walked out the door.

This restaurant is a disgrace. The staff is lazy, inattentive, and completely uninterested in doing their jobs. Don’t waste your time or money here—they clearly...

When last did you visit News Cafe Boksburg. Does it still have a vibe?

I recently visited again after a VERY long time and I must say I am happy to see they have revamped their menus with some great food and drinks options, I including a sushi menu.

I had a virgin mocktail of mixed frozen berries, berry puree, mint, orange juice and lemonade which was so light and refreshing. As for food, I had the onion bites with a blue cheese dip and the lamb riblets with greek spice. My mom had the Panko Chicken strips with Honey Mustard Mayo. The chicken strips were fantastic and so was my onion bites. I could happily eat a portion of those and be satisfied. My Lamb riblets were nice but very fatty would have liked more meat on the bone.
