I honestly don’t understand how John Dory’s as a franchise is still in business. No matter which branch we try, disappointment seems guaranteed, and Harvest Place was no exception.
We went for the half-price sushi deal to celebrate my son’s birthday. The food was edible, but that’s about where the positives end.
The service was absolutely terrible. Our waitress attempted to climb over the booth to serve food, failed, and then handed my young daughter a hot plate that burned her hands. That in itself is unacceptable. On top of that, we specifically asked for a simple birthday gesture — a “Happy Birthday” song for my son — and it was flat-out ignored.
The restaurant itself was filthy. Floors sticky, tables sticky, menus sticky. It’s enough to make you question the hygiene in the kitchen too.
As for service, our waitress visited us exactly three times: once to take our drinks order, once to drop them off, and once to collect payment. Everything else — including chasing after our own food — was self-service by default.
Overall, the experience was unpleasant from start to finish. We left disappointed and embarrassed that this was my son’s birthday meal. I will not...
Read moreHonesty disappointed and disgusted at our experience. The waiter was great. Food was good. But I'm appalled by the kids play area and woman who was "looking after the kids" and I say looking after very lightly. We chose seating very close to the play area to look into whilst my child played. I asked the woman if there was tags or arm bands for the kids before leaving them there and apparently they were all finished. I asked her if she was going to be there the entire time to look after the children she said yes. And we specifically chose this John Dory's as it had the playground and was close. Not even 5 seconds after I left my my 3 year old there. Did my child walk out of the play are with absolutely no one looking. Following or checking that he was okay. Thankfully I'm an attentive parent and ensured that I quickly got my child, but what a disappointment , what's the point of having someone there when they actually don't look out for the kids and there nothing preventing the child from walking out or being taken by a stranger ? Absolutely appalled by this and will likely never return to...
Read moreJohn Dory's Seafood Restaurant is located in an amazingly vantage section of the Harvest Place Mall, directly opposite the Wi:Jump kids facility. From one of the outside tables, one has a good view of over 240 degrees, including of the beautiful rooftop decor and the passage below, with the Escalator providing an addition moving landscape. There is also a lift a few meters from the restaurant for ease of wheelchair access. The atmosphere here is more relaxed, being a short distance away from the sounds coming from the kids' entertainment area. The food, of course, is standard fare for this seafood franchise, but the excellent service from ever-so-polite Waitron Lihle, made all the difference. She was helpful in making an effort to locate my JD rewards credits. Additional restrooms are located within the restaurant and were well- serviced and easily accessible. This was our first visit, but we shall definitely go...
