SHOCKING! After arriving we waited very long for drinks. When the drinks eventually arrived, the waitress just dropped it and ran, not taking our food order. It seemed as if she was a bit frazzled so i let it go. About 20 min later she still wasnt back to take the order so i went looking for her. Poor lady was trying to decipher the computer ordering system. She sent someone else to take our order. The lady she sent had a very visable "trainee" badge so i was patient as she tried to remember the specials. She took our order of 2 chicken salads. 45 min after this order was taken, there was still no food and our lady was only back once to advise that the chef is on it. I had another appointment and could not wait any longer so i got the attention of the manager (it was he's first day) and asked for the salads take away, if they're ready. Waited another few minutes before i got up and decided to only pay for the drinks consumed as i was now running late. I was met inside by another manager who attempted to save the situation but it was too little too late. He became arrogant in he's response to my complaint and asked whether i own a restaurant to be able to make my complaints viable. He also continued to bark an instruction to a waiter exclaming that the front door be closed for further business. I saw atleast 3 other tables complain about lack of service and wrong orders during my visit as well. Whilst paying for the drinks we had, our server apologized for being absent from the table and went on to explain she was actually in the kitchen helping the chef!! That is not her duty and she does not receive financial compensation! It is such a gem of a place with so much potential but it would seem there is a big staff turnaround with little to no training for any new staff. The management also have a terrible attitude towards customers and it is such a shame. This was my 3rd time to this establishment and I've not ever had...

Our waiter was helpful, friendly, and laughed at my husband's corny jokes! First the boeretroos koffie arrived...with condenced milk served in a tin cup. Food: The portions are huge. They have a completely different style of presentation and exquisite ideas of mixing different tastes together. I honestly was blown away by this place. The atmosphere is very tranquil and one easily can forget that the place is situated on the corner of 2 rather busy roads. Going to Lua A Baker's cafe was truly the best experience I've had at a eatery in a long time! I gave a five star 3 years ago, I loved going to Lua as everything was perfect.
A friend and I decided to go for breakfast on Thursday and the waitress was fantastic. The food a little disappointing.
When it came to paying, the machine was not working properly but my payment went through which I showed to the waitress as proof of payment. As we were walking out one of the waitresses came to me and asked for my phone number just in case they needed to get hold of me. I was happy to give them my number.
I got a call from Lua on Sunday asking me to send a screenshot of the payment. I was going to send them the screenshot when I noticed that my payment to Lua had been refunded to me. I phoned them to let them know and asked them to send me their banking details.
I repaid Lua and paid the extra banking fee and WhatsApped them to let them know that I paid and a confirmation would follow and wished them a lovely day.
I know that what happened with the machine was out of their contro, but as a business, I would expect at least a thank you from them and perhaps a sorry for the inconvenience caused.
I sent this message to them on WhatsApp.
Don't you think a simple Thank You would have been appropriate?? I could have just sat on this while you chased your bank to find out what had happened and where your money was. I had to pay to send the confirmation to you and you can't be bothered to say Thank You. I'm very disappointed, especially in light of the fact that I've been coming to Lua since you started up!😡
I'm still waiting for a reply... It shows me that they don't care about...
