Service - Mixed feelings. We booked a table 5 days in advance for 18 people last Sat to watch the rugby match. The Fri before, we called in to extend the table by another 4 seats. When we arrived on Sat it was a total disaster, a very rude waitress shouted out that we called to cancel our reservation despite us saying that the call was not a cancelation but a request for more seats. She continued shouting until the two bouncers at the door directed her to stop arguing with the customer and to sort out the tables! The Manager arrived and went out of his way to fix the mess on an extremely chaotic evening. Half of our group ended up being seated outside but, still had a good view of the big screen, so no complaints.
Thank you stax to the three gentlemen that assisted that evening, and for allowing our many kids (outside of the club/bar area) to witness the awesome match and Bok magic, they will remember the night for years to come!!
Food - Excellent.
Atmosphere - Excellent.
Centre Security - Sorry but terrible. When we left just before midnight, we noticed our Fortuner had been broken into. Window broken, storage compartment and door panel ripped out. These guys had plenty time to fiddle with a vehicle parked 3 bays next to the entrance, in a centre that has a security guard and boom gate!! Not blaming News Cafe for the incident, but no cameras and a very lax security guard? I'm sure more can be done to secure the...
Read moreThe waitress Sindie was an absolute terror, she was not even the assigned waiter for my table but my cousins boyfriend asked my cousin to pay and she went as far as telling my cousin to " make sure she adds her tip". They ended up tipping her cash which makes me wander if the cash is a request she made or it was coincidental. The manager brought her to the table regarding the situation and her arrogance has culminated into this review. She does not understand the gravity of her actions nor does she care but as a a hospitality professional it's important that one person's name does not bring an entire brand /franchise into disrespute. She should really sit and re evaluate if this is the right career path for her, demanding tips from customers as they are tipping is so distasteful and honestly rude. Newscafe I had a phenomenal evening with great music, beautiful company and exquisite food but I have to admit this incident and the general behavior and attitude was abhorrent however I can't fault you on cancer within your...
Read moreI had sat inside the cafe, asked for the Wifi and sat down. As I had an online class,I decided to pack my things and move outside as it was more quite and I knew it would get more rowdy later on. As i was heading out,I heard the female waitress with a black short pixie hairstyle comment in Zulu that they should switch off the wifi etc.., basically she was talking about me and assumed I had just come in for the free wifi. I dont understand why some women are just bitter like that. Firstly she shouldnt have assumed and secondly, even if I was leaving, that was rude and typical gossip behavior and a customer should never be treated like this. I literally sat down for about 5 minutes, Maybe I`d understand if I sat for over 30 minutes. Its women like her who give us Women a bad name. This was around 2pm on Tuesday the 9th of July The lady who served me however, was lovely. Because of that lady,I decided to leave and sit at another restaurant in the same shopping centre as she...
