We frequently dine at Ocean Basket Emmarentia and happy with the service and quality.This evening however we had a really disappointing experience at the restaurant.We understood that the restaurant was really busy and the service was really slow and delayed.We waited a while for service and when our food arrived after a long wait it was really unsatisfactory.The fish was so undercooked n it tasted raw.We tried to eat it but further on it tasted worse and so we complained.The fish was replaced with a half size piece of the original fish we were served previously with no apology from a very present manager/Owner.He was very aware that there was a complaint and he should have addressed it ASAP.Lotsa excuses given by the waitress.A review was requested on a visible review snap scan box on the table and we gave one honestly because we were so unhappy with the food.The manager/owner was walking around mingling with other customers but not once did he approach our table to ask us if we were ok or if our complaint was attended too.On our way out this very manager/owner of this establishment confronted my husband OUTSIDE his Restaurant on the pavement in a really arrogant and rude tone saying "Did you review my restaurant"Then blatanly denying that there was a problem with the food.No apology or remorse at all.His approach was so defensive.Why approach us outside the restaurant?Was he scared that the other patrons would see his behaviour and hear our complaint? To avoid a confrontation and argument my husband walked away.Is that customer service?You cannot make excuses for poor quality and service.If you cannot handle criticism then please DON'T request a review.Thank you Ocean Basket Emmerantia.Your establishment has just lost a loyal client.Please learn to treat your customers with respect and goodness as they are paying you for a service.Unhappy...
Read moreThe experience was not enjoyable at all. When we arrived, the restaurant was almost empty and we did not expect to wait around 1 hour for our meal. Many other customers came in after us. However, they received their meals before us and even left the restaurant before us. The prawns were cold on arrival. No basket was given for the shells. Not enough serviettes until we asked for it. Not enough clean plates were given. There were no rolls on arrival and welcome. Water was served in paper cups. There was no cream or ice cream for the desserts. We then decided not to order the chocolate lava cake and only take the baklava however, the waitress did not understand us and brought the chocolate lava cake anyway without the ice cream. We had to pay full price for both desserts.
The service was not great. Table was a mess. And not cleared before the desserts were brought. Waitresses were running around in a hurry and there seemed to be a staff shortage.
There was also no coloring to occupy the kids during our long wait.
Definitely not worth it at all especially when wanting to spoil the family for a special Muharram meal.
After submitting my review the owner very kindly apologized and offered to replace the desserts for us or provide a refund. We would be willing to give them another try...
Read moreThe food at this restaurant did not meet my expectations. Ordered a platter for one, and the mussels were rotten and had a bad smell. The prawns and fish were also of subpar quality. The "lemon butter sauce" differed significantly from what I've had at other Ocean Baskets, appearing to be homemade with an excessive amount of melted butter and garlic. The entire platter was overly drenched in butter, making me feel unwell after the meal. Additionally, the waitstaff congregated near the kitchen, conversing loudly, and it was challenging to get their attention despite the restaurant being nearly empty. I also found it unprofessional that the bathroom door was left wide open, especially in a dining establishment. While we typically refrain from complaining, this experience warranted a review. I hope the management addresses the food quality issues...
