Ocean Basket Oakfields — Restaurant in Gauteng

I like the food offered by Ocean Basket and in this regard the Oakfields Ocean Basket held up their end of the deal. But that's where it more or less ended. Ambience could be described as non-existent to austere, service levels barely adequate - I would go back only if I specifically felt like having one of their dishes - there is nothing else attracting me to this utilitarian outlet.

2023/06/26: On a business visit to Benoni, I dropped in for lunch - fish, calamari and chips. On a tight schedule I tucked in straight away and only after a while realised the fare was cooling at an alarming rate... yes, the pan it had been served in was cold. That, in my mind, is unforgivable. Ironically, the food had been prepared admirably well, and the waiting service courteous. A disappointing experience and poor show - perhaps the manager needs to be a bit more aware of what happens at...

This was by far the worst ocean basket I’ve ever been to. First they gave us the 2 buns without chilli and without butter because they didnt have any left. Then I asked for serviettes and the waiter told me they don’t have any. Then I placed my order and asked for rice and THEY DIDNT HAVE ANY. I asked for squid heads with my calamari and didn’t get my squid heads. I asked the manager to assist us as we weren’t getting anything we asked for. She then brought me a plate of squid heads that I immediately sent back because they were cold like they came out of the fridge. Our mussels and prawns had the wrong sauce (instead of garlic butter it had lemon butter) EVERYTHING WAS A MESS and they STILL gave me the full bill to pay. Was my Wife's birthday today so we had a platter for 2. Pitty food was so salty. They offered us a discount after we told them, but this was not an ideal solution,we would of preferred a meal that we could of enjoyed. The waiter we had was shocking, we arrived at 1230pm.,the shop was quiet, the waiter was not present at all! I had a double espresso to start off with, and that'd where it stopped, I was craving something to drink after the salty food but the waiter did not come back once to check how we were doing. I'm just shocked with the service we received. Being in the restaurant industry, I would never put up with this kind of service. What happened to the previous owners, this place has gone down...
