I'm an ex Durbanite who decided to take his 2 friends for a good Indian food experience I'd heard about that was good!
The first thing that struck me was the vibe. It felt wholesome. Welcoming, easy and free! Its not often you get that sense in a restaurant. My friends and I all noticed that and we discussed it. The staff we lovely too. Eager to please and we felt taken care of. Observed the people next to us who were very chatty to everyone and mingled so nicely. They were strangers to us but introduced themselves and we chatted without reservation.
That's what I call good vibes.
Lastly the food! Our starters were crunchy and perfect texture samosas- delicious with a semi-sweet/spicy dip!
For mains it was Bunny's all round! Very tasty š and unique, definitely not your corner curry variety. This had flavor and class. We all motored through our food despite my friends having knives and forks to eat their bunny's with! I prefer the traditional method, left and right hand.
Over all I was delighted with the food and Bombay milkshake. I forsee great times and many happy moments coming out of Urban Tadka. Thanks so much guys an gals! Can't wait to try...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGreat place to eat in or take out on any day! New to area so decided to give this spot a try... and oh boy I was not disappointed. First thought when i entered.. ahh great the place is so clean. š then greeted by such friendly staff. After reviewing their menu and having all my questions asked about my choices, i finally placed my order . ( so refreshing to find an establishment where staff are aware of what each item on the menu is about) š My take out was exactly as per my order and bursting with authentic flavors on Indian food. Their Butter Chicken was one of the best I've tasted here in JHB north. Their flaky roti was freshly made and really paired well with the butter chicken. Their savouries were truly so freshly made and we'll sized and so delicious. All that yummy food was so affordable, truly a bonus ! I have been back after take out experience and will definitely state that whether it is a meal delivered, eaten in or taken out, your quality standard is a benchmark of quality and excellent taste. Payment and order history is proof. Keep this up and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFirst and last, first and bitter last Ordered take aways - not the fastest, but OK. By the time I got home my entire car stank of Indian spices so I was happy that they know how to cook! Boy was I mistaken. The lady fingers - I just threw away, just like that. Uncooked. The chapati was so hard I was scared I chip a tooth. The rice smelled like under arm sweat. The Roti was still warm and was all I ate. The potatoe side dish with masala was also OK, but a lot of it was not cooked so I threw that away too. The potatoe samoosas looked lovey, no truly. Punjabi style, the way we like it. But looks turned out to be deceiving. Had no taste what so ever. What so ever. What so ever ever ever ever. The crust however was nice. The crust was all that we are as we wanted SOME kind of something for our R420 spend. But as I said, first and last, first and last. Always good to try somewhere new, this could have gone either way. Pity it went the wrong way for us. Back to Thava at Monte Casino I suppose - you get what you pay for, we'll ought...
