4 visits in 4 weeks. The place is delightful. The first visit was excellent. Nice wine, excellent platter for one the comfortably fed two, quiet table indoor which I have had every time. Visit 2 a week later with a Dutch client, his drink order was out of stock, service was shoddy, things had to come from the restaurant next door, the waiter didn't know the mere and Giovanni the owners son bordered on arrogant and unapologetic. Needless to say I lost client. Still I like the place and went back last Friday alone. Good service, nice platter. Maybe the previous visit was an off day. So I take another client the next day. Oh dear! Sparkling water expired 5 months ago (so what else has? Shoddy service again, forget part of the order and the waiter who took the order effectively accused me of lying (I had a witness). Madam the mananager/owner was back, like her son, total disregard for clients. My new best place is on my new never to go back to place. Pity. If they cut the attitude, checked the stock sell by date it has...
Read moreNew in Gauteng. We found the place on google while looking for wine-tasting places. The wine-tasting experience itself is a bit weak, if you are used to the Cape Town type of wine tasting, where for e.g. the wine connoisseur takes you through the history of the wine, the soil the grapes were grown in, the aroma etc. When we visited, the waiter basically brought out all our wines and chocolates and off we went, on our own. So probably not so great if you are specifically looking for wine-tasting.
I however have to say the Italian food is THE BEST I have ever tasted. Their portion sizes are also HUGE, so if you order the full/large portion get ready for a food extravaganza. They stock a wide variety of wines. Overall, a great place to grab a bite of Italian food, with a wide variety of wines to select from. Great vibe with the outside sitting spots. The owner seems friendly and chats with...
Read moreTruly my happy place! I only wish this store existed when I lived in Pretoria. I rarely get to South Africa now but when I do, I make a point to visit Vee and Forti’s. It’s as much for the incredible wine selection and stellar recommendations as it is for the dreamy outdoor space to sip a glass of wine and watch the world go by while enjoying fantastic jazz. Owners Vee and Forti are so warm and hospitable - what a special treat to sit and chat with them about wine! You instantly feel right at home. I come here to relax and unwind and enjoy fantastic company. I wholeheartedly recommend to my friends and colleagues looking to buy fantastic vintages of South African wine you won’t find elsewhere and can’t wait to bring my...
