For the record, words will not come to me to exactly describe my experience at Cula.
To begin with the first step is to step into entirely different realm. Transported from the hustle and bussle of city life, to an area of zen, tranquility, comfort and kindness. The moment we walked we were greeted by who I can honestly describe as an incredibly wise, gentle and kind soul by the name of Musa. He directed us the the perfect spot away from any crowds for a nice romantic scene.
Next came the drinks. I did not partake at the time, but while I'm writing this review I'm enjoying a fantastic coffee milkshake, that has none of that crappy syrup aftertaste. My girlfriend at the time tried a classic bubble tea and was left dumbfounded, as if she was taken back to Thailand. However I'm afraid I must make a observation: the only issue with the drink was that the starch bubbles were too hard according to her, but despite that she enjoyed it all the same.
After a little while, which was barely noticeable, our food was served.
Then we had their famous Shoyu Ramen. I had the chicken, my girlfriend the pork. By the first bite I was hooked. The chicken was perfect. A salty combination of soft and juicy yet tough enough not to disintegrate in my chopsticks. My girlfriend's was perfection and honestly left me a little jealous. The crisp of the pork was to die for. Once we started eating, I joked afterwards that I blacked out and was assaulted by such wonderous tastes and sensations from the food, the smell so delicious that all outside worries evaporated. The world dissolved around me and my sole focus was to leave not a crumb in my bowl. By the time I was done, I drained the contents left behind by slurping the rest (I do beg pardon for my terrible table manners, but you will understand when you try it).
The meal did have it's drawbacks however. I am an individual who will eat anything and say it is a fantastic meal. Place a over-seasoned slab of god know what kind of meat infront of me and I will say it was exquisite 10 minutes later, my stomach full and a smile on my face. My girlfriend, however, who comes from the Orient herself, told me the level of salt was a bit off putting, yet despite that it was truly as delicious for her as it was for me.
Next we tried their famous Korean chicken... my soul left my body just from the smell alone. I honestly didn't feel worthy to eat such a delicacy. The seasoning and level of crustiness was out of this world good.
So, long story short, Cula Restaurant is the best restaurant I've ever been to in my life and it will remain that way until the day I die.
Thank you guys soooooo very much for having us and being so amazing. You are truly pioneers in your field and have made loyal regulars for life. Whenever we are in George you can guarantee we...

Read moreMy mom and I visited Cula after I'd seen they offer Korean Fried Chicken - something not often done correctly and rarely offered in the area - and wow were we blown away! They have a wide variety of Asian foods from Japanese to Korean, Chinese, even Indian foods! A quick chat with the lovely manager, Chris, and we learned how the staff had gone for weeks of training which helped to compile the extensive menu they have!
They have a variety of everything from starters, to different types of mains, to desserts - their drinks also look incredible from authentic alcoholic Asian drinks to non-alcoholic options such as bubble tea!
They also have daily specials which is perfect if you don't know what to order - we had the Thursday slider burger special and despite the whole point of sliders being small burgers, the chicken "patty" was perfectly thick and the beef burger had 2 patties making each quite the stack but the perfect filling bite! Absolutely delicious pairings of flavours and beautifully served in a lovely warm atmosphere.
Asakhe served us with a smile and carefully ensured we had an excellent experience as our first visit, however it is very clear that all the staff here truly care about the work they do and the quality they put out to us as customers. It was so heartwarming to see all smiles as they worked together and I'd overheard them talking to each other about how the food needs to be "made with LOVE," how often do you hear that in a restaurant?!
I simply cannot recommend this restaurant enough and can't wait to visit again. It's one of those restaurants where you want to order something new every time you visit and I'm sure it's all excellent. Pair that with the incredibly friendly staff and beautiful atmosphere - this place will be your next...
