We have been here twice- first time me and my wife had breakfast-the service was almost NON EXISTANT.

Today we travelled on the Dias Express to Maalgate -a group of 26 people. We mostly ordered baskets (light lunches)IN ADVANCE as per request from the train personnel BEFORE we left Hartenbos station.

At our arrival the waiters only took our drink orders as these were not part of the pre-order farms we completed in Hartenbos.

The train personnel also told us that we had 1 1/2 hour(one and a half hour time for lunch ) before we had to continue towards Maalgate.

The food started arriving after 3/4 hours in drips and drabs and it became clear that at the pace it was arriving we are not going to make it for the time we had to be back at the train.

We enquired various times from the waiters why the food was taking so long and that we had limited time, also because. our various orders was pre-placed before we arrived.

They seemed not to understand or concerned what we explained.

Eventually some of us cancelled the orders while others had to rush the food when it arrived 5 min before the train was going to leave and resolved the non-finished lunches to be placed in take away boxes. This REALLY WAS VERY, VERY POOR SERVICE and most people said they will not go...

The food was disgusting and cold.

The jalapeno poppers were filled with two types of hardened and rubbery cheeses, presumably gouda and cheddar, and served with chunky cottage cheese. The jalapeno itself was bland. The breading on the jalapeno poppers was like a sheet of barely edible sand. We wish it was tasteless, it was incredibly bad. The milkshake was made of cheap crystallised unblended ice cream chunks and probably two spoons of knock off nesquik. Yet somehow the ice cream chunks aside, the milkshake was watery.

The calamari was definitely frozen and rubbery and arrived lukewarm. The only redeemable quality of the dish was the tartar sauce. The chips were okay. Not the best but edible. The onion rings didn't even have batter on most of them. Some of them looked like the peels of an onion instead of the inside of it. They were also barely coated in batter and we could tell they were green in colour. 😂 It was so shockingly bad that it became funny.

We felt so bad for our waitress but nothing good could be said of our time here. We were unwilling guests forced to stomach this slop.

At R110 for calamari, onion rings and chips, this was a rip off. Eat anywhere else near the sea but this place. The food is only edible if you're watching rugby...

Terrible terrible food and service.

The portions and the quality of the food was really not worth what they charged. I order calamari snd chicken strips basked. I only received 4 small strips for R55 and 5 chicken strips for R40. My son ordered a boerewors roll @ R75, he is only 12 but makes a better wors roll at home. My husband order a pie R95 and chips. It was so small and tasteless with only about 8 chips. We can get a better pie at the Petrol station down the road for R25. The van Loveren White Chardonnay was R180 per bottle. So they make R100 profit.

They overcharged and should be ashamed. We waited so long for the food to arrive after placing the order and our waiter was hardly there to check on us. We had to poor our own wine as well. We are local and are really very disappointed how they overcharge a asbestos the food is on a poor standard. The bathroom was also in a dirty condition.
