Osteria Tre Nonni — Restaurant in George

To me, dining out is expensive and I don't do it often. This place made one of the few times in a year I do dine out, worth it.

Food - When I visit a restaurant for the first time, I usually order the most basic dishes. Reason why is because it is easy to hide a bad dish behind condiments and extra topping. Wonderful Margerita Pizza! I can get all bougie here, but the bottom line is, the pizza is great. I also believe that anyone can make meat amazing, but a true professional can make veggies magical. I ordered the vegetable side dish, and there guys delivered on a super high level.

Service - We were fortunate enough to have Kim as out waiter. What I liked about her is how she anticipates what you need. I never noticed here, but she always seemed to be there when you needed her. She was less of a waiter and more like a casual family member bringing food to us as a favour. If you are lucky enough, ask for her to be your waiter.

Atmosphere - We were there with kids and sat outside. Did not notice the vibe inside, but we were happy being on our own, in a corner, and being able to keep an eye on our kids.

Final tip - order the gorgenzola foccaia to share as as a starter and keep one piece of the foccacia in a take out box. Before you drive home, eat that slice. No-one will want to get close to you if you are pulled over as the aroma (anthough wonderful) is...

We ordered a Castle light draught beer. The glass was cold but the beer not. We mentioned it to our waitress, a lovely young lady and she took the beer back. The next minute the owner/manager stormed to our table beer in hand and proceeded to shout at my adult children about how he knows the beer is cold and how can we wait so long to say something. He never asked what the issue was or allowed any discussion. In my 59 years on earth, I have frequented multiple restaurants world wide. But has never been treated this way. My son in law was humiliated in front of the whole restaurant and staff. My daughter was in tears! Although we were the only people in the restaurant at that time. I can understand why this restaurant was empty with a owner treating his customers like that. The food and drinks are also hectically overpriced. Paid R135 for a small cosmopolitan cocktail!! Really??? This is George, Mr Owner, not Italy or Joburg. Here we treat each other with respect. The poor waitress was so embarrassed and came and apologized on his behalf. This establishment will not see me again and I encourage fellow Georgies to not support...
