Steers Drive Thru — Restaurant in George

We had a terrible experience at steers yesterday at about 5pm. We stopped there to order ice creams and milkshakes. We have been regulars for a long time.

At the drive through we ordered a soft serve ice cream in a cup with caramel dip, a plain sundae in a cup and a large bar one milkshake. The woman took our order and told us to drive to the window, upon arrival there she mentioned one chocolate dip where my brother then said no its a caramel dip she then screamed super loud to the other staff its a caramel dip not a chocolate dip. We then paid and moved to the next window for collections. The female there with a terrible attitude hands us a caramel dipped ice cream in a cone I then said I did not order it in a cone I ordered it in a cup she pulls the slip out and says no u ordered it in a cone I then told her its not my fault that the lady took my order wrong, we ordered a caramel dip in a cup to which she gave me a dirty look and rolled her eyes at me. She then again started screaming in the store back and forth to the other staff. I told her just please fix my order even although you guys got my order wrong, I will pay if there is an additional fee she then stormed away came walking to the cars window with a cup....basically she took the cone with the soft serve caramel dip ice cream that she gave me from start that I didn't want and dumped it upside down in a cup. She did not do it over professionally and properly. Before I could say something my brother drove off.

If I wanted the ice cream dumped in a cup in its cone then I would of done that as soon as I got home. It was pathetic service and a pathetic attitude. I ended up throwing that ice cream to my dog when I got home.

Worst service ever! Let me also add their chips are extremely oily and soggy, definitely not the way that I've always known steers chips to be. Also a few times I drove off where they didn't give me everything that I ordered and I eventually had to turn around and go back. But there's no going back from here. Disgusting and unprofessional service.

THIS STEERS IS NOT...

Been through the drive through before. Terrible. No menu, no clue what you're ordering. They also don't know. Decided last week to go in and order the double cheesy burger combo. The menu inside super limited. Asked what came with combo, reply was any drink. I ask if that includes milkshakes. Yes. I say ok chocolate, she replied medium or large, I say whatever the combo comes with, she says, a drink. After 5min of miscommunication, I order just the burger and fries and a medium shake. A large shake is R3 more. Really. Exasperating really. I ask why don't they have a menu so we can see for ourselves, she replies, no we don't have menus. I say..yes, I know, that's why I ask. Anyway, the food still tasted good. Next time I'll just go elsewhere or order on the app. Was just super...

I visited this steers branch on 6 October 2023. When placing our order (a double up sharing meal), we were informed that this was no longer available as it was a promotion. When we asked what other options we had, we were greeted again. This went on for about 5 minutes. We left with no food and rather made use of the branch in Courteney Street, where we were informed that the offer is still available. The York Street branch's staff have proved themself incompetent and unhelpful. I will never make use of this...
