Terribly disappointing. We booked for the Christmas lunch buffet at 12 noon. On arrival quite a few people were standing around waiting to be seated. After a while a lady showed up and pointed us to our table that was outside on the porch. We did not see any waiters around - the same lady came to the table to take our drinks order. After about 30 minutes we were informed that the starters were ready. A line was forming at the table - luckily we were there quick enough and did not have to wait too long. Then the trouble started. We waited and waited..... enquired a few times when the main meal would be served. At 2 o'clock we still had no food. There was little to no service. When we were eventually informed that the main meal was ready, a queue quickly formed - we realised that it would be ages before we got to the front. People were complaining that they have not had starters yet and that there was not enough food. We enquired with the lady who was running around all morning and decided that it would be best to leave and find somewhere else to eat. Hats off to this lady.... she really tried her best and had to take all the flack. More people left ..... The restaurant was not prepared for the number of people that booked and were short on staff. This was a disastrous day for the restaurant. We will very likely not go...
Read moreThe name changed to Cape Karoo Eatery. After seeing the photos on this restaurant's Facebook page and reading the reviews, we couldn't wait to have a meal there. What an anticlimax. At the time of ordering we were the only patrons in the restaurant as was the case during the rest of our time there. Waited too long for an ordinary breakfast. Had breakfast, ordered the Traditional and the Farmhouse (the latter that came with a cup of coffee) and a strawberry milkshake. After going to the back to inquire if milkshake is available, we were told, the owner/manager/? is quickly going to fetch the ice cream. Unbeknownst to us (and not informed by the waiter) the "fetching" means going somewhere to apparently buy ice cream while we waited. Breakfast already finished when we decided to cancel the order on the non existing milkshake. Asked for a glass of water during dinner. Came, nice, cold and with ice blocks ... in a chipped glass. (Is there no check in place?) The coffee came afterwards after I inquired when it will be served. This restaurant is definitely on our list to never...
Read moreFood is good, waitress was lovely. Visiting from the UK and being to the establishment before, which I enjoyed, I decided to go back.
After the meal I proceeded to pay in cash as I had done on my previous visit.
I was then advised by way of a handwritten note (in pencil) on an A4 piece of paper that the payment policy had changed on Tuesday 3rd Feb and they no longer accept cash. I did not have another form of payment on me. So I asked why I had not been notified on arrival or before we ordered. There was no notification published in the establishment regarding the policy change. I had paid in cash on my previous visit.
I asked to chat to the manager. The waitress walked me to the ladies toilet where the manager was busy on her cellphone. I waited quite a while for her to complete her call. She confirmed t that the owner had changed the policy and no cash will be accepted. Eventually I managed to pay in cash.
This is extremely unprofessional and inspire of the good food and service.... I will not...
