Disappointing Experience at Oudtshoorn Inn Hotel
On the weekend of 31January - 02 February 2025, when we came for the Highgate Inter-Provincial event at Oudtshoorn, we booked and got accepted at Outdshoorn Inn Hotel. However we had a bad experience of the loadshedding (no backup), dirty and stinking fridge, dirty linen and very weak wi-fi in room. I reported the matters to the reception and the fridge got cleaned up but not linen. My son and I used one bed as we were uncomfortable to use the other bed. We also reserved our paid breakfast a night before and informed them that they must package it for us as we have to report early at the stadium for the running event. It took them an hour to prepare only 2 breakfast parcels. Very slow and unprofessional service!
The last straw was this past weekend (21 - 23 March 2025) experience at Oudtshoorn Inn Hotel was extremely disappointing. Upon arrival with my family, we were informed that our reservation had been double-booked, and there is no room available for us. The hotel only notified us of this issue when we were checking in, yet I paid and followed up to check if they received my payment with its POP, which was both frustrating and unprofessional. They only made the arrangement for us to sleep at The Barons Palace hotel. We had to go on our own to The Barons around the corner, and only to be informed by the reception guy there The Barons that they have not been informed about us. We insisted that we are travelling with our children and cannot stand this unprofessionalism. The reception guy spoke to his manager, who ultimately accomodated us and will claim their money from Oudtshoorn Inn hotel manager. We slept there at Barons Palace and checked-out in the morning, as per arrangements. In the morning we went to collect our breakfast at Oudtshoorn Inn hotel and were disappointed that it was not even prepared yet it was booked overnight. We had to leave and rush for the reporting of the SA Biathlon Championship at the stadium. My wife and daughter had to drive back to collect he breakfast and waited for a full hour. All the people there at Oudtshoorn Inn always shift the blame to their fellow absent colleague at the time of discussion. It's a shift blame game all the time - very very unprofessional and unreliable.
Oh yes, the hotel lift was out of service since I left in February till to-date. Pillows are stinking the sweat. Sliding doors are not properly closing and locking due to broken frame hinges off from the wall. There are broken cars (Mercedes and Mini Cooper) with punched tyres in front of the reception. Drunken guys also busy greeting and busy up and down in the reception area. The hotel is a mess lately!
Not only did this cause a great deal of inconvenience, but it also left us feeling like our stay was not a priority.
We had looked forward to our time there, and this mishandling of our booking completely ruined our weekend plans. Given the circumstances, I would not recommend this hotel to others, as the lack of communication and poor customer service left us with a very...

The porter was already on his way out the door, not dressed for work, so I opted to take our own bags up to the 4th floor, with a 3-year-old, after they knew I had a baby coming and I have a walking disability.
The patio door couldn't lock, let alone the frame was entirely loose from the wall which I only discovered when I opened the curtains as a thunderstorm hit.
No bar fridge or cooling facilities. No two prong plugs for chargers. No guide book or even a number how to dial the front desk. Two teabags, two coffees and no milk for a 4-day booking.
Only 2 channels on the television worked, the bathroom door didn't close at all, and the door to the room had no latch, so anyone could just pick the lock, with it only opening with a standard flat key.
One of the rooms next to the 'elevator' which my son kept saying is scary, because it looked like it could drop any second, had the door broken into, looked kicked down, refuse all over the floor, it was just nasty.
This was just the start: They had no vending machine or any cold drink/sweets facilities. The restaurant that was said to be open had no front desk person working, no menu printed, no music playing, no person seated, no one in the kitchen and when someone did arrive they pointed us towards a spaza shop/run down café up the street, that they wanted us to walk to, to buy something cold, on a 48 Degree day. The other guests were making noise till 3 am. Suffice it to say, we did not get...
Read moreI recently stayed at [Oudtshoorn hotel inn unfortunately experience left much to be desired|Upon our 3 pm arrival, there was no one at the reception to welcome us, prompting me to search for assistance. The staff was friendly and eventually helped us, but the initial lack of reception presence was surprising.||Although we anticipated a modest stay for a 3-star hotel, our disappointment grew when we entered an unprepared room. Lacking a small fridge, it posed challenges in keeping beverages cool during the summer. The cleanliness of the room fell short of expectations, and the bathroom, devoid of a window or ventilation, felt cramped.||Furthermore, the discrepancy in breakfast inclusion was frustrating. We were informed that booking directly with the hotel would have included breakfast, but since we used booking.com, an additional charge of R150 per adult and R75 per child was imposed. Uncertain of the quality, we opted out and explored a delightful local coffee shop instead.||In summary, Oudtshoorn hotel inn failed to meet our expectations, particularly in terms of room readiness, amenities, and communication regarding breakfast. Our decision to explore alternatives, such as the charming coffee shop, proved to be a more...
