Mountain Spring Spur — Restaurant in Mbombela

We went for breakfast, when we walked in the waitor just showed us a table, gave us lunch menu @ 9 AM and left..no questions , we waited for ten minutes until another waitress came and asked if we've been attended too, we said No and told her we've been given lunch menu, she went to get breakfast menu, gave us and left for a holy 5 minutes, another third waitor came again, this time around it was a white one...asked for our order and kept on making race jokes,he took our drinks orders, my friend asked for white coffee and the waiter said they don't serve it he can give him FILTER COFFE instead as if that's not bad enough when I asked why the menu doesn't have hot chocolate anymore, he said that's because it'son the OTHER menu, 10 minutes later he came back with the drinks. My friend's coffee was cold. Then he took our main meal orders, he didnt even write down our order, got it all in his head and left,we waited...again ...for 50 minutes this time around, some white folks came in and the second waitress who attended us at first went to attend them they ordered ,got their food ,ate and finished while we were still waiting for our order, we called and told her that we want to cancel our order, she asked why and we told her that we've been waiting for our food for quite a long time while she left and went to ATTEND THE OTHER WHITE PEOPLE who came after us, and then the manger came to "hear" us and apologise. At this point we just wanted to go so we asked for the bill for the drinks and that's when our food came ! Imagine a whole hour later! And he got it wrong, my friend doesn't eat pork and specically requested that there should be no bacon or pork bangers on his food and geuss what the bacon was on top of the eggs!! UPDATE: The Spur contacted us and apologised and asked if we would please give them a chance to make up for the bad service.

We went there on a Saturday night and the restaurant was packed! but despite the place being verry busy, we received outstanding service and the food was perfect.

The staff were verry attentive and the food was served fast and hot.

However we will be returning to find out if the level of service remains the same if the staff is not aware of why you are there.

Original: We went there a couple of months back and the service was horrible we waited almost 30 minutes just for our coffee. We went there yesterday for a quick lunch, thought we would give it another chance. We were greeted by a verry friendly waiter that took us to our table and told us someone will be with us in a moment to take our order. We sat there waiting for almost 15 minutes, and no service not even an attempt. We got up and walked out no one even tried to stop us or enquire if things were ok. We went to Detroit Spur in Riverside and had the best experience, staff are awesome, we sat down, had our coffee and lunch all in 50 Minutes, if anyone feels like going to spur in Nelspruit, the Detroit Spur in Riverside is defiantly the better option, do not waste your time at Mountain Spring Spur. Decided to stop in at spur on the way home from doing a rather cold and wet trip outdoors.

Ordered the 7 burger specials and a kiddies chicken strips and chips. Kiddie meal was brought fairly quickly whilst we had to wait an extra 30 minutes for the burgers to arrive. When asked, the waitress just said they will be ready now, offering no reason for the lengthy wait, the restaurant was not really busy at that stage.

Waitress was unfriendly and really seemed like she didn't want to be there.

We sat close to the play area entrance. It was a bit concerning that the door kept slamming closed. So we constantly had to warn the kids so that they wouldn't get knocked over or get their fingers slammed. Also with just a canvas covering one wall of the play area, the cold was just blowing into the restaurant if the door was left open.

The floor manager and her brother, were so helpful and friendly, both of them really made an effort to accommodate us. This really made all the difference to our visit there. Would definitely return to be seated in the sections they...
