Cafe Orca — Restaurant in Melkbosstrand

Date night last night and we decided to be adventurous to try out small restaurants around our neighbourhood instead of the all grand and fancy dining experience. So we found a new gem that was established over 20 years Cafe Orca at Melkbosstrand🙌

The food is on par to most 5 star hotel and restaurant seafood. Orca is seafood focus and all dishes were perfectly cooked to perfection with amazing flavours that doesn't overpower the freshness of seafood. The service was surprising professional to a 5 star hotel! Price is not expensive and way better than Test Kitchen's seafood!

We had grilled kingklip with Alaskan line fish smoked salmon sauce garnished with red peppercorns and also had the Fisherman's platter with grilled baby sole, lemon butter squid and 3 skillfully grilled prince prawns! Desert was so unexpected as most restaurants often fail to deliver good dessert if they have good mains. The choc peppermint tart served with berry sorbet and choc cheese cake served with pistachio ice cream were out of this world.😋

Great food, stunning view, friendly service - definitely an interesting find in Melkbos, Bloubergstrand. We spend a lazy long Sunday brunch at this lovely restaurant with friends and have enjoyed every minute. The restaurant does not take bookings and open at 11:00 daily. So make sure you arrive in time or plan to get your name on the waiting list as this outfit is popular and especially busy on on a Sunday. We were there on a bright blue windless day and everything was just perfect. Coming from Jozi we found the prices very reasonable and the quality of the food excellent. Well worth a try if you are in the surrounding. If I have to be critical: they have a policy of only accommodating four people per table on the outside patio and we had to work hard at convincing the owner-manager to make up a table for six of us outside with a sea-view. Wow what a special place with the most amazing food and great service. The food was really really good, we had Squid heads and basil pesto squid for starters both were great, then we had Blue Cheese Kingklip and Lemon butter Kingklip. The blue cheese kingklip was the best fish we have ever had. For desert we had the Orca Special cake, it was really really good and the mint Tartufo and wow that was super. The service was excellent all the staff was assisting everywhere and making you feel at home and checking in with how the food was. The staff have the best teamwork I have ever seen at a restaurant all around the world, team please keep that up. The manager or owner not sure also checked in and assisted all the waiters.
